Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Further to the above, it's generally claimed that Linux has only 1% of the desktop market, although the reality is there's no way to know for sure. FD are being very short-sighted here I think. As Dizzie points out the extent of Linux penetration is hard to assess (because 'sales figures' are unkno...

Re: [RELEASE] Povray Planets 1.0

I think we should start a torrent of this OXP.

When dealing with such huge amounts of data, the torrents is the best and fastest way to share.

Re: Building Oolite Windows from source - The Easier Way

The bad news is that you are setting up yourself for a lot of work if you want to build all the dependencies from scratch. The good news is that it can be done though. Be aware that most of the Win32 dependencies require modifications specifically for supporting Oolite anyway. The modified SDL.dll ...

Re: Building Oolite Windows from source - The Easier Way

Another question related to PC build.

There are some dependencies in 'dep' folder. I want to rebuild them too, with modern core and SSE2 suport. Especially the JavaScript engine, the JS32ECMAv5.dll.

Where can I find the sources for this one, and how to build it?

Slightly different cargo colour

It would be nice to have slightly different colour for cargo, when displayed on scanner. Dark grey, maybe.

What do you think?

Re: Deep Space Dredger

Escape pods should be working in general. If you're doing the last bits of damage very quickly they might not have time to use them (but lasers don't usually do damage that fast). Possibly the ship set you have doesn't give the ships escape capsules, or the escape capsule model is broken? Could you...

Re: Any good book's?

Forbidden Borders trilogy by Michael Gear . Humanity is trapped in a "gravity well", the so-called Forbidden Borders and there is increasing conflict because of ever-decreasing space resources. Staffa Kar Therma a.k.a. the Lord Commander is a mercenary who leads an elite group of soldiers...

Re: Deep Space Dredger

What script controls the 'npc abandons the ship when it's about to explode' feature? I'm not seeing any derelict ship in the game (v1.76.1), thus making them impossible to salvage. The NPCs refuse to escape even when their ships are badly damaged. I think something was broken in the game mechanics s...

Re: Building Oolite Windows from source - The Easier Way

One question. I want to build Oolite with SSE2 instruction set, to get maximum perfomance on Core2 processors. I made the following corrections to GNUmakefile: ADDITIONAL_CFLAGS = -Wall -DLINUX -DNEED_STRLCPY `sdl-config --cflags` `nspr-config --cflags` -O2 -march=core2 -msse2 -mtune=core2 Is it eno...

Espeak voice

Yesterday I tried the new PC build of Oolite, v1.76.1 and immediately noticed a very important addition: text-to-speech engine. However, it seems the default built-in voice cannot be changed. Can I tweak config files to change the default voice to SAPI5, like Microsoft Anna? Also, there's plenty of ...

Highlighted names

Just a thought.

It would be really nice to have planet, enemy or target names highlighted.

Like this:

Shouldn't be too difficult to implement.

Take look at this: Fr-041: Debris (procedurally generated city in 179 kb) and Elevated (realistic landscape generation in 4 kb ). Press 'Download', unzip the archive and launch the demo. Both demos written using DirectX 9 and require a decent video card to run. Youtube videos for Mac users: Debris a...
