My topic...my lovely topic...
Anyway. The Asp now has three nice textures to use - thanks to Killer Wolf for those. I'll package them up after I've corrected a few things (like window placements and such) and added some nice decals and weathering.
The Thargoid chitin idea is proving problematic - it's hard to make it look half decent from all angles. I'll keep banging away at it. In the meantime I've started modelling the Fer-de-Lance and the Moray.
Zoooooom!

What about overlapping layers of shell-like material i.e.Selezen wrote:The Thargoid chitin idea is proving problematic - it's hard to make it look half decent from all angles. I'll keep banging away at it. In the meantime I've started modelling the Fer-de-Lance and the Moray.

down the flat surfaces and smooth the edges for a more 'organic' appearance.

that's a cracking texture, but i think the red/blue is too glaring to be an insect?? just personally, of course. there are red/green insects, but i think the way the patterning is done make it look too much like paintwork. i think one colour might look better. maybe a red ship would be a tougher type of chitin than the green ship, eg ???

FWIW:
Latest Thargoid screenie - GREAT!!!
I actually like the standard Thargoid look. IMO all it needs is a sympathetic reworking of the textures / poss models too.
So thums up from me.
Fer-de-Lance: - GREAT!!!
Looks good, & looks expensive - What it's supposed to be...

@ramon - Nice! I take it that the row of yellow trapeziums (or is it trapezia?) are escape pod ports. It looks really good, just one thing though. Is it possible to build the 'satellite dish' with a bit of gubbins to make it appear 'retractable/compactable', since the description of the Annie is that it only just fits through the docking port. I'd hate to see the dish getting scraped off each time you dock, like losing your aerial in the carwash. I'm sure the captain would not appreciate losing Sky One in the middle of the new 'Lost' series.
