This is indeed an interesting sentence on http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Imperi ... on_History:
v1.4: Can dock to stations by Shuttle or ILS (cautiously) if put target lock to the station.
v1.5: Fixed Shuttle model in Oolite 1.80.

I'm not sure about Linux, but look for a folder named ManagedAddOns. That contains all expansions installed via the manager.
To install manually, simply drop the oxp/oxz into your AddOns folder. Did you download Oolite from the repo or oolite.org?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I understand removing them would mean I just move these files to another folder.
Then I download the Star Destroyer from the wiki page and drop it here so it is the only file.

Ok, so I moved all the files to another folder and just dropped the freshly downloaded StarDestroyer_1.6.oxz in the original folder.
Starting the game is so much different now. I launched from the station, went nearby to the navigation buy, turned around and pressed 'r'.
I got the message that the shuttle would be going for the station. At the same time I could see the shuttle actually flying away from my ship.
The shuttle spent quite some time maneuvering around, but ultimately I got the landing sequence and am in the station again. But there is no line in Latest.log...

That means your test is repeatable. A first step. :D

But what is ISD? And how do I identify them?
Sorry I went a bit wild with the acronyms there. It just means Imperial Star Destroyer, the name of the OXP and you don't need to identify it. ;-)

Glad you got it working. Now you can start putting OXZs one by one back into the ManagedAddOns folder until you find which one triggers the change in behaviour, leading to the issue you have reported. Once we know the culprit, we can figure out the best way forward.

I tried this days the Imperial Star Destroyer. Perhaps the ILS-System doesn´t work with the Shuttle? The Shuttle needs a little bit time and patience for approach. Flying such a big destroyer isn´t similar to other ships. I tested an approach on a pirate cove and lost my patience. Then I destroyed the cave. I flew to the main station to send my Shuttle. I could not find it. I could not see it. After 3 minutes the Shuttle put me in an other hermit, because I had destroyed the pirate cove. It´s more about captaining than piloting a ship.

Believe it or not, I once installed Linux (back in '06). It infuriated me so much, I ripped it out and installed WinXP x64 instead. <sobs>

I'd call that a success -- as long as you still had a working computer to deal with afterwards. I know of situations where not only the kicks of the "infuriated" put the device to rest.

It would've been a success (once they'd sorted driver issues out), had there not been a bug in Space Cadet.
The 64-bit version of Pinball had a pretty nasty bug where the ball would simply pass through other objects like a ghost. In particular, when you started the game, the ball would be delivered to the launcher, and then it would slowly fall towards the bottom of the screen, through the plunger, and out the bottom of the table [ ... ] we simply couldn’t figure out why the collision detector was not working. Heck, we couldn’t even find the collision detector!
The absence of Space Cadet is one of my few gripes with Win7.

Well, this is still the missing bit. And looking at the fact that I had 142 plugins installed this is not a small job.

As a first I did not even trust that the manually downloaded version 1.6 is equal to the package-manager's version 1.6.
After all this command reveals they are indeed the same:

Code: Select all

diff oolite.oxp.staer9.StarDestroyer.oxz ../ManagedAddOns/StarDestroyer_1.6.oxz
So next is to figure out which of the other 141 packages breaks the shuttle behaviour. I will probably go with groups similar to a binary search...
