Live music commences about 9 on the Saturday night we were there.
Another strange place to visit was the Newshouse - a small pub tucked away out of sight on Canal Street. Quiet place, rather small but definitely cosy and quieter than most so would be good for talking rather than having to shout over the stereo.
Beer mix was good (and we did sample EVERY ONE) and there was an extensive range of spirits. Some of the spirits were a little on the strange side (Polish whiskey, for example). Staff were friendly and willing to engage in playful banter.
Two good places I didn't know existed until this last week.
One thing I forgot was the "Riverside" complex - a series of bars along the city centre end of the canal. Talk about student/townie nightmare! Still as bad as I remember. Billy's comment pretty much summed it up, with people disappearing up their own arses... It's a good summary of anything over the Lace Market and that end of Hockley too. Shame, cos Hockley used to have some nice bars.

So. Is anyone actually up for this?
