It's never worked with the stick, as far as I can remember... I always have to use the keyboard.
I'd put it down to my stick.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

lol, I never noticed, never tried.

Intentional misjumps feel like cheating to me - free kills and money.

You can also misjump OUT of a misjump.
So if a system was 2 LY away, the first misjump would burn 2 LY fuel and leave you 1 LY away from both systems.
Misjump again and you'll be ~0.5 LY from the destination and having burned another LY of fuel.
Misjump again and you'll be ~0.3 LY away and having burned 0.5 LY of fuel.
...I've seen misjumps for 0.0 LY distance after doing them enough.

If you find a system-couple (two systems sharing the same coordinates and therefore having distance 0), you can misjump between them indefinitely without using any fuel.

Makes you kind of wonder, though, where in interstellar space you actually are in that case. There seems to be a hidden third dimension somewhere in the maps. 8)

In the case of overlapping stars, it is indeed a mystery! :)

I was also wondering, but about something slightly different!
When we find 2 overlapping stars, we can go between those two systems without using any fuel whatsoever, forever and ever.
Nice as it is, I'm not 100% comfortable with that concept...

Maybe we could have 0.1ly as the minimum fuel usage for any hyperspace jump, regardless of how close the destination is.

Sounds fair?

Yes, I think even the shortest jump should always use 0.1 LY fuel.

As I'm currently working in that area of code, I'll add that in
The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

No idea if this would render some systems unreachable, and it would be a change in the game :

Or you could have a minimum distance in hyperspace jumps required - so you couldn't jump to very close systems at all and would need to travel to another system first.

And a huge one at that!
I think I can safely say there's no chance that concept is ever going to make it to Oolite, no matter how long a time after MNSR...

No, that's not fair! As soon as I point out a loophole, it gets plugged!

Perhaps I should keep quiet at least sometimes...

(Just kidding, I'm fine with the change. Although it breaks with the usual Elite/Oolite convention to increase distances and fuel usages in steps of 0.4 only. But that may be broken anyway if jumping out of interstellar space, so you may as well go ahead with it.)

Anyone have alternate keyboard bindings that gives an advantage in combat?

Did someone mention 0.4? I don't mind 0.4 instead of 0.1!

TBH, I wasn't even thinking about the usual 0.4 increments until you mentioned it.

Micha will 'probably' notice it, though, since he's in the middle of that code...

Getting out of interstellar space only uses fuel according to the remaining distance, so this is already outside the 0.4 rule.

I think 0.1 for the no-distance jump is fine. 0.4 would take it too far.

Or you could introduce even more OXP equipment - a Short Hyperspace Telemetry Enhancement (SHyTE) - that prevents Zero distance jumping between collocated systems unless fitted - due to the potential problem of arriving at your destination before leaving your start location.

Just a thought
