Re: Starting up Oolite

Hello Guys, Maybe an odd one this, but how do you suppress the background terminal when starting the game? Are there additional 'switches' I can put in the executing path of my desktop menu config? It's good for debugging/slight cheating (see ship population), but it would clutter my taskbar/deskto...

Incidentally, what also effects the speed is when the space background is of the red nebula effect. Strangely, no other nebula colour effects it to any great degree. Yes, I noticed it too :? . Red nebula effect slows down FPS when is rendered to the screen. I cannot say about other colors on my pla...

Forgive me interrogating you like the Spanish Inquisition, but since you're using the FPS/object-collision counter can you recall how high the collision counter got (it's the last number in that display). Well, bug-squashing requires to exactly define in wich circumstances a potential problem may o...

Re: On Thargoid Carrier again (v 1.65)

That's a nice system, probably at least as fast as mine, and the frame rate doesn't recover after the explosion? (As the temporary objects disappear?) Yes, it's indeed a good machine. Well, when I move away from explosion location, FPS remains low (about 6), it doesn't recover. It seems strictly re...

Re: On Thargoid Carrier again (v 1.65)

It'd help if you gave some more details of your system. Oh, ok. I have a ATI Radeon 9000 something (I am away from home, I'll be more precise about that as soon as possible...) with 128 Mb ram, AMD Athlon 2500+ and 512 Mb system memory. Running Linux Slackware 10.2. Let me know if you need m...

On Thargoid Carrier again (v 1.65)

Hello, the problem with fragmentation still stands in v. 1.65... Making the Thargoid Carrier to Explode generates about 600 objects, and this slows down performance dramaticaly. (about 6 FPS) No way to play the game at that point. Need to jump to another system. Maybe explosion needs a little tune-u...

How do you rotate your cargo? I try to take around 50% of cargo to most systems with the hope that I may score some high value cargo from various other space goers, but I get frustrated when I scoop a ton of food, thus filling my cargo bay and there are other cannisters floating about. I didn't rea...

That's a shame - I like to listen to the music while it's doing it's thing :-)
No, I am not that patient; I just want to buy fuel, jump to another system and kill again

It may happen. As far as I know Docking Computer is not afraid of any obstacle on his way. It's safer to use SHIFT+d

Problem with explosions

Hello, I am trying this 1.65 RC1 and seems to work well. I also appreciate very much new explosions: are kind of spectacular. But... Have you tryied to make a very big ship to explode? I did it, with a Thargoid carrier; well, it generated about 600 metal fragments, slowing down a lot my pc (running ...

I had it too, a few time ago. I had to wait until temperature bar started flashing, and I heard the warning sound. That killed them.

Oh, please. Don't tune down Imperial Curier  Sorry - it's ridiculously overpowered. It unbalances the game. Hum yes, maybe you are right... Few days ago I was hunting a kraith and I noticed he was running at my same speed (i was at maximum). I told to myself: 'damn it runs very fast!'. And the...

Thanks I'll give it a try. Do you know if there's a way to bind it to joystick buttons?

I think Imperial Courier should not be tuned down. The only constraint to work with should be price. Maybe it can be made more expensive? Like 1.000.000 Cr.
