From dub/reggae to jazz to klezmer music - the later gives inspiration for some nice stunts.

Through the periodic search for elite remakes (happens atleast once a year), first time I had seen oolite it was Mac-only, but still kept checking out the progress once in a while especially when I saw it was moddable. First time I tried it out was in November when I noticed a port of it on freshpor...

Right you are, after a search I found that RFC1912 which is just an informative memo states a YYYYMMDDnn format is a recommendation - so it's not a violation of any sort of standard.

Good catch. Also, note the serial number of the powweb.com NSs in their original entry - and their refresh and retry values. The serial doesn't conform with RFC format and the refresh/retry values are very low imo. 900 secs and 60 secs... that's kinda overkill unless they're migrating their network....

Wouldn't it be ridiculous is the "hack" in capnhack.com triggers off something simplistic like that?

mmm. Of course Oolite could fairly easily be adapted with a server object running in a separate thread written to respond to simple TCIP/IP requests like an HTTP GET request with the necessary information for simple dials (rather than the full details necessary to draw an external view). I wanted t...

The big problem with Coriolis space stations is that the sides are flat. If you were any distance away from the centre of a side, the 'ground' would feel tilted. Rotating stations really need to be cylindrical. Maybe the flat sides are just armour plating and storage areas while the actual living q...

In that case allow me to also call upon the "time and responsibility reasons" clause for the time being as well.

I'm saying nothing about the linux userbase at all... however you never see gentoo and soap in the same place at the same time  Someone should implement soap as a clause in the ports Makefile and maybe it will get ported over to gentoo as well... :-) And to get back on topic I should also add...

Ah, good news all around! :-)
I'd say just stick to a 5.x release for the time being, I don't really see any point in doing a separate 6 release at this time, the compat5x is usually installed anyway if you've been upgrading and it's not that big really...

Will we be seeing it in ports soon then?

Hey cool, I saw you're going to work on decals - will it be possible to randomize them or have text-based decals as well (like the ID of a ship, etc)?

Well, there's this which I saw after taking a peak to see what in all is hardcoded in oolite. Didn't see anything calling missionMusic in there but there is a scripting method called setMissionMusic so maybe it's some oxp doing it to you or perhaps it's just the default missionMusic if the oxp doesn...

The centrifugal effect is not the same as coriolis force. Coriolis force is an effect of the interaction between gravity and centrifugal effect. Right you are - what I should of typed was "with an added side-effect of Coriolis forces", which is one of the reasons according to what I read ...

I've often wondered why the stations rotate at all, navigation bouys and witchpoint beacons don't, but it is a major theme of the gameplay so I wouldn't want it changed, manual docking is not really difficult. Supposedly to create the sense of gravity in the interior via centrifugal force (part of ...
