Through the periodic search for elite remakes (happens atleast once a year), first time I had seen oolite it was Mac-only, but still kept checking out the progress once in a while especially when I saw it was moddable. First time I tried it out was in November when I noticed a port of it on freshpor...

Good catch. Also, note the serial number of the powweb.com NSs in their original entry - and their refresh and retry values. The serial doesn't conform with RFC format and the refresh/retry values are very low imo. 900 secs and 60 secs... that's kinda overkill unless they're migrating their network....

mmm. Of course Oolite could fairly easily be adapted with a server object running in a separate thread written to respond to simple TCIP/IP requests like an HTTP GET request with the necessary information for simple dials (rather than the full details necessary to draw an external view). I wanted t...

The big problem with Coriolis space stations is that the sides are flat. If you were any distance away from the centre of a side, the 'ground' would feel tilted. Rotating stations really need to be cylindrical. Maybe the flat sides are just armour plating and storage areas while the actual living q...

I'm saying nothing about the linux userbase at all... however you never see gentoo and soap in the same place at the same time  Someone should implement soap as a clause in the ports Makefile and maybe it will get ported over to gentoo as well... :-) And to get back on topic I should also add...

Well, there's this which I saw after taking a peak to see what in all is hardcoded in oolite. Didn't see anything calling missionMusic in there but there is a scripting method called setMissionMusic so maybe it's some oxp doing it to you or perhaps it's just the default missionMusic if the oxp doesn...

I've often wondered why the stations rotate at all, navigation bouys and witchpoint beacons don't, but it is a major theme of the gameplay so I wouldn't want it changed, manual docking is not really difficult. Supposedly to create the sense of gravity in the interior via centrifugal force (part of ...
