Re: Higher resolution Textures for Famous / Povray planets
I briefly contemplated doing the same process with all the rest of the planets in Povray planets and then realized just how crazy that would be :) Considering they're machine generated - perhaps yes. It would be a mighty cpu hog but those textures could be rendered larger. I worked out i could do t...

Re: System Redux
I have done my own textures for System Redux and am interested in a 64 planet coded version that's compatible with Oolite 1.77. So if Capt Kev, Kaks or anyone with some coding knowledge (i possess none) could provide the code to enable this, i could quickly flesh out a 64 random home-planet (and 32 ...

Re: Difficult start to Windows 7 Oolite
My C: drive is a SSD with my OS (windows 7) and as few other files as possible there. Unfortunately Windows 7 (how i hate microsoft OS's) insists on installing some things in the default location (Oolite is NOT one however) and seems to have major problems with programs installed on a secondary driv...

Re: Higher resolution Textures for Famous / Povray planets
Thank you for the kind comments....like i said, they won't be to everyone's taste and they are done in a different style.

Higher resolution Textures for Famous / Povray planets
Firstly, i would like to commend the Author's (and contributors) of 'Famous Planets' and 'Povray Planets' This project was primarily a personal one to revamp (produce higher resolution versions) of the original famous planets textures. I discovered during this process that the task I had set myself ...

Recommended Free, Large file Host
As the title suggests.....i'm looking for some advice on a free file-hosting site that is reliable and allows uploads of at least 1 gig files.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Re: THE DEATH OF OOLITE > ELITE DANGEROUS
Firstly I must state that I am an Elite hardcore nutcase....played it to death when it first came out, have replayed it since until i discovered Oolite (which is better) and will probably play it until i die (in some form or other) Secondly, Braben has seriously annoyed a lot of hard-core Elite fans...

Re: Didi you play Elite?
I remember playing on the C64 ...I seem to remember there being a competition for the first player to get to Elite....I made it to Deadly, never got as far as Elite back then. I also seem to remember the C64 version being way easier than the BBC one....pirates always came at you in a diamond formati...

Re: New to Oolite - Help Me w/ Equipment
I agree with what others have posted....I usually buy fuel scoops first, followed by beam laser or injectors (there's so much equipment that is REALLY essential but you can't do anything without scoops and injectors are very useful. An ECM is almost as important, scanner targeting enhancement is alm...

Re: Updated Textures for Famous Planets and System Redux
Thanks...i'm glad they work well for the current incarnation....when the new version of Oolite is released, hopefully, either PA groove, submersible or yourself will have done some new textures and if not then i'll try and do some new versions possibly using cube-mapping

Re: Updated Textures for Famous Planets and System Redux
Ok, i've finally finished an initial release for System Redux Replacement Textures Just unzip the two files and copy/paste the contents into your System Redux textures folder (I would recommend backing up system redux textures before doing so) You will need a fairly decent set-up to run these textur...

Re: Are there any Black Holes OXPs?
Well, black holes are theoretically linked to wormholes....i.e free inter-galactic travel This would have to be at a serious risk though...I think black holes should be navigable somehow, perhaps approaching using witchfuel injectors at maximum speed and a very small navigable area to avoid being cr...
