I'm looking at the thread title - what does RoS stand for? Answers on a postcard to..... The ship: "Remorse of Conscience". I mistyped the subject BTW, I decided to save a bit longer and got a Python Class Cruiser. Makes a big difference in the income stream, and it's a pretty good fighte...

I'm a bit confuzzled and frustrated by this OXP. I get a few Harkovians, scoop 'em (<5, obviously not enough to trigger success). then I blat around the system, from nav bouy to witchpoint and back (fuelling at the black monk/constore/sun), looking for more. Usually after an hour or so, my game ses...

local hero: where are the bad guys?

I just spent about 1 RL hour on a local hero mission where the bad guys never showed up. I flew back and forth between the N and the W buoys again and again and nobody ever showed up. The mission dude got pissed that I kept docking for fuel (lots of injector usage) and said the mission failed. I eve...

making Passenger and Cargo contract status visible

Part of the fun of the game is tracking the various possible player statusses, and figuring out ways to affect that status : the road to Elite, the legal status are the core ones, RandomHits adds the (somewhat "Lawful" based) Assassin status, and so on. Having a representation of the statu...

Glad you got rid of your drift. It was killing the game for me so I'm glad I was able to pach it.

It's rather more complex than that. Reputation for contracts and passengers are handled separately and spread across 3 variables: contracts-completed, contracts-failed, and contracts-unknown. Every so often these variables are nudged towards 'unknown' (as memory fades), every completed contract nud...

The PCC is a fighter though as well as a hauler (it can fit both boosters and naval shields, nice slim profile and pretty nippy too) and it hauls 175 tones. But its pricey! The RoC would be a good entry level hauler to build the Credits for something with more punch! The ship data is contradictory ...

I think so. But of course the real world time it saves you isn't that much as a lot of the real world time is spent mass locked (unless you're staying out of the space lane). I rarely spend time in the lanes unless I'm "cruisin' for a bruisin'" or hunting down RandomHits targets. When doi...

I noticed that you have YAH installed - it does (on occasion) cause quite a few PC systems to stutter - mine included - but it's just so much fun to have around I've left in in! I can't imagine playing without YAH now. I *love* the little convenience stores -- very helpful on long hauls, adds anoth...

But does a faster player ship take less real world time using in-system jump drive to reach the planet than a slower player ship does? I'm trying to balance all the benefits of speed (both in combat and in real world "down" time while cruising in-system) vs. combat vs. freight capacity

Ship speed questions

Do injectors just add to the current speed of a ship? So that if ship A is faster than ship B without injectors, ship A remains faster when both have injectors on?

Is the same true for in-system jump drive? Or do all ships travel at the same speed for in-system jumpdrive?

Well, there's the PCC as well to consider to get into the low range of the hauling world. Decsions, decisions! I may just stay with the MkIII until I can afford the Courier :)

My main point is that it is basically impossible in native to get into freight hauling early in the game, or to choose hauling as a "career". The contracts are pretty much never in the range of what an extended cobra can handle. While on the other hand it's straightforward to ease yourself...

Ship upgrade decisions ... RoS or not?

Ship upgrade decisions.... I'm at the point where I can just afford (non-RS) a Remorse of Conscience, which I've seen described as a good Cobra MkIII upgrade ship. But I've noticed the ship data table on the wiki says "no shields" for the RoS. Does that mean no shield boosters at all, and ...
