Re: And another Oolite model on Shapeways (Galcop Viper)

Re: And another Oolite model on Shapeways (Galcop Viper)
1:1000 Oolite Scale or RL(tm) scale? Fab looking model. Well done. I think you should do a range of Christmas Crackers... (Or Monopoly...) (Moonopoly?) aegidian already has Oolite Ship Miniatures on Shapeways, 1:5000 scale for boardgame, but I'd bet they'd fit in christmas crakers too :) Nic...

Re: Average prices Gold, Plat, Gems wrong?
Those average prices look about right Oathbreaker. From mains ports, I've seen Gold as low as 36, Platinum in the mid 60's, & gem stones just over 16, but you can get them for free with a mining laser & Ore Processor .. but be warned that over 499kg will round up to a ton & reduce your r...

Re: Pylons and what you carry?
I've just got the four pylons on my ship (my own balanced build), 2 slots have regular missiles and the other 2 slot have Shepherds... mostly my role is as an escort-scavenger & generally I only use missles to take down the hard heads coming my way.

Re: New model utilities
I have installed Wings3D. No, there won't be any ugly or useless ship OXP's from me, just playing around with it. Would be nice to have a tutorial handy from a Oolite perspective. The ones mentioned in the wiki are not available. Here you go CaptSolo :) A tip for wings3D; Sometimes it crashes impor...

Re: [WIP] Xeptatl's Sword
Making OXPs can be fun sometimes (as well as frustrating and agonising), but once in a while something amusing happens, and this one I thought I'd share with you. The Xeptatl Society have several monitoring stations around the Eight and you will visit some of them during the course of the mission. ...

Re: Have you noticed?
I used to play Elite on the BBC many years ago, so am familiar with the gameplay. From a new commander's perspective, the wiki and this board has the answers to all the questions I had about Oolite.

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
Nope, it's a spawned entity so can't easily be saved. In any case, if you leave such a nice inviting hoard unattended, just think of it that someone else found it and walked off with it ;) Oh, that brings a bit of balance into things. I suppose the shepherd disapears if I hop to another system and ...

I went for balanced. For me it just makes the game more challenging and much more enjoyable.

Re: Oolite Darwin Awards
Not sure if this is an 'Oolite Darwin Award' nomination or just an all out noobish thing to do... I picked up a contract in G2 to take out someone at Qualema. Before I saved, I looked at the Galatic Chart to find the system, and started typing. You know what happens when you press [SHIFT] and q at t...

I just found something else out about the cargo shepherd... the data isn't saved... I just got spread to the 4 corners of the Ooniverse and had to go back to my last save... cargo shepherd is nowhere to be found

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
Cheers Thargoid, it works a treat with splinters. :) I usually drop of off in the middle of an asteriod field and start carving away, pick up the outermost splinters, go for a drop off, by the time I get back all the splinters are in nice little clusters. I've found it useful to carry two shepherds,...

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
Cargo Shepherd also doesn't work on splinters and rocks (unless it's been hacked to do so). Only on cargo pods. Here's the cargo shepherd doing its stuff with some asteroid splinters. (This OXP is 'as is' downloaded, I haven't even looked at the code yet, let alone hacked it - the first time I just...
