Have you noticed?

There aren't as many new commander questions.
Is this because there aren't new commanders? or that most are answered real quick and satisfied and don't post again?
Or is the basic game getting too complicated for inital fun?

I think it's probably for some of those reasons, particularly the speed with which we seem able to help people these days, and also this Forum has become such a great resource...it's simply easier to find the answer you want.
Another really good thing is that many new members seem to come to us already quite experienced and actually start their 'career' here with some positive input rather than problems.
We do get many (tens) of new members signing up each day, but sadly most of them are spammers of one sort or another. However a quick check shows 36 genuine new members have registered in the last month, which is pretty good, I'd say.

Think that there is something in this.

When I look at myself I first think: Well... experienced and experienced. That is a rather relative subject.
But when I started here I had tested Oolite before. Several times.
By that I mean: I played to the state of Dangerous and then something happened and I had a long break.

Then I started again. But then I had to upgrade the program and as a long time had passed, it was more fun to start from the beginning (Harmless again).
And this happened several times.
Then I had some experiences of Elite too. But this was some time ago...

But it took a rather long time to be a member. But I had some questions (have even more now) and was a little curious too.
But when one is new and wants to know more - it can sometimes be hard to know where the problem really belongs - and/or how to put the question.
And actually it is the same now as the questions changes with time.

I think there are still many new commander questions. I'm too lazy to go through the boards and count/post links to all of them, but I don't think the amount of new commanders popping in and asking questions has changed significantly. There have probably always been seasonal fluctuations, and I guess overall the boards are still too small for statistically significant observations.

I used to play Elite on the BBC many years ago, so am familiar with the gameplay. From a new commander's perspective, the wiki and this board has the answers to all the questions I had about Oolite.

Some questions get answered in IRC now, so fewer appear here perhaps.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!
