1.74: New speak feature

Post by Cmdr Wyvern »

When playing with the speak feature, the game locks up hard at random moments, requiring me to force-kill it. Figures that nothing about it is written in the log.

With the speak feature disabled, the game runs smoothly.

1.74 on XP Pro SP2, dual-core Athalon, nForce mobo, Geforce card, 4GB ram.
Running Oolite buttery smooth & rock stable w/ tons of eyecandy oxps on:
ASUS Prime X370-A
Ryzen 5 1500X
16GB DDR4 3200MHZ
128GB NVMe M.2 SSD (Boot drive)
1TB Hybrid HDD (For software and games)
EVGA GTX-1070 SC
1080P Samsung large screen monitor

We'll need a sequence of events that reproduces the problem. I've never had an issue with speech. What voice, gender and language are you using? How long does it usually take before the crash happens?

Male or female voice; tried them both. Default language; turns out to be English. Time is totally random; can be anywhere between a couple of minutes to an hour or more.

And it's not a crash, it's a hard freeze. All action suddenly stops, and the game fails to respond to input.

Since it fails to make a log entry about it, I can't give you any more than what I've observed. Sorry.

I think you're on the right track.

I had one sudden crash to desktop with the above replacement exe, but that could be windows. The sudden freezes, however, have went away. 8)
