Buying laser bug

Post by Gimi »

Trying to buy a beam laser in trunk, but can only select starboard mounting. (See picture).

Running trunk version (how do I find the version anyway).

I have Military laser on forward mount.
Beam laser on rear mount
and now beam laser on starboard mount

Looks very strange indeed. You should get all laser ports, but not four more beam lasers as buyable equipment.

Looks like something's gone mixed up.

When people report bigs in "trunk", it would be useful to give an svn revision number.

I was looking at the laser code a while ago, its possible i committed something by mistake and broke it (my code was test only and shouldnt be in).

EDIT: yup, sorry guys, I broke it in 3072 Im reverting now.

I know, but where do I find the revision number. Have searched but can't find it.
Did my last update 2 or 3 or 4 days ago. Can't remember.

That's why I asked where I find the svn revision number, please help.

From your svn checkout root folder run svn info. Alternatively, you can run

Code: Select all

make -fMakefile pkg-win-snapshot
when building the game. This will generate a version with a watermark on the top right of the screen, which is designed to a) designate the executable as unofficial and b) report the svn version number at all times while it runs.

You are welcome :-)

Just wanted to add, in order to build the snapshot installer version, you must have NSIS installed and the relevant Makefile paths set to the NSIS binaries location.

I'm using the easy build method for windows for now. When I'm done with staff college I'll have a look at playing around with the slightly more advanced stuff.

OK now that i put it back the way it was, I got around to finishing the laser buying code. Does anyone have some OXP ships with exotic laser options (like aft/port only) so i can see if I did fix the laser buying oddities?

EDIT: I mean, trunk is now back how it was, and on my machine I have rewritten laser buying code, that I need to test.

Quite astonishing this  . 1 hour and 36 minutes after I reported the problem it is fixed. I downloaded new trunk and all is well. Electronic Arts could learn something here.

Thank you for your supererogatory efforts gentlemen. :D

Maybe not you, but from my past experience, someone is putting stuff in their code that shouldn't be there. Don't get me wrong, I like some of their games, but they do tend to be buggy when released. Much like Windows, things settle down after first patch. Difference is, EA's patches tend to show up quite late.
