Hi Griff.

I’ve just re-downloaded and installed most of the set. Again I seem to have a problem with the Cobra Mk III (both versions).

With either Cobra Mk III installed, all Cobras (I's and III's) disappear from the “For Sale” list (f3+f3). When I remove them, Cobras (standard) are for sale again. All other ships appear as normal. I’m at a TL14 where most ships are available.

Also, I’m still getting the same error messages in Latest.log as before i.e.
[shader.uniform.unpermittedMethod]: Did not bind uniform "alertlevel" to property -[ShipEntity alertCondition] - unpermitted.
I presume that's OK.

1.73.4 on PC Win XP

PS The Python is great.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

I think this is the shipyard-overrides.plist in the oxp's doing it's thing, it sets the chance of the standard ship appearing for sale to 0, eg in the griff cobra mk1 oxp it has

Code: Select all

{
"cobramk1-player" =
   {
   chance = 0;
   };
}
and in the griff cobra III it has

Code: Select all

{
"cobra3-player" =
   {
   chance = 0;
   };
 }
this is what is making the standard cobra's vanish from the shipyard, it doesn't automatically mean that they get replaced with a griff version though, but they should turn up for sale at some point.
the alertlevel error in the log seems to only be happening on the PC version, the shader is working fine though so i've left it in the oxp, i can easily take it out though if needed, it just links the light colours on the players ship to their current alert condition

OK, I'll go off to another TL 14 and see if one pops-up.

BTW How do I make a Griff Cobra my player ship (apart from buying one).

i think you have to edit your save game, maybe make a backup of it first then open it in a text editor and search for
<key>ship_desc</key>
change the line underneath to either

Code: Select all

<string>griff_normalmapped_cobra_mkIII_cleaner_version_player</string>
for the cleaner texture cobra III or

Code: Select all

<string>griff_normalmapped_cobra_mkIII_player</string>
for the original version

Thanks, Griff.

I'll report back on availability of Cobras.
If no Cobras at all are for sale at two TL 14's then I think something is amiss.

edit. Well I never... there they are. Humble apologies.

Ahh, Griff... what can I say.

The Clear Air Turbulence has never looked so good.

As for the Python... in space it looks awesome.

Many thanks. I really look forward to the rest of the set.

I shouldn't play Quake Live, Tremulous, and real life, so much.

Nice new ships.

I might have to get back into this Oolite stuff, now the original is 25 years old!

Sendraks-
The top one is a Griff Python and the bottom is a Griff Boa. That model boa was "inspired" by the original. It is far less true to the original than the other models in this series.

That is Griff's take on the Boa. And a fine cargo ship she is, too.
