I'm running "Oolite v1.72, snapshot build of svn revision 1827 (2008-11-02)" with several OXPs, including Trident Down v1.1 + associated OXPs (TD + associated OXPs bundle downloaded from Ramirez's site), on a Windows XP machine.
This weirdness happened to me:
I did a misjump from AAA to BBB (deliberately) and ended up in witchspace (OK ...).
I docked in a Behemoth (OK ...).
I found that I could save the game! So I did, then quit, then reloaded.
Upon reloading, F6 shows I'm in witchspace between AAA and BBB; but F5 reckons I'm docked at AAA.
Upon launching (F1), I pop out of a space station by planet AAA, just like F5 said I would. But F6 still shows me in witchspace between AAA and BBB.
Weirder still, my scanner identifies the space station as Raceedat! Raceedat is nowhere near.
Docking and relaunching doesn't reset the F6 report: it still thinks I'm in witchspace.
Sure enough, I can now hyperspace to CCC which is 6.4ly from my alleged witchspace location, but 8.4ly from AAA.
I would guess that there are two bugs here:
Oolite v1.72 lets me save game when in a Behemoth. (Edit: see here - when was it fixed?)
TD v1.1 mis-labels certain space stations as "Raceedat". (Edit: see here - TD is still buggy?)
Anyone seen this behaviour before and know if fixes are in the pipeline

I once did something similar. However, once I docked, it was like with all dockable !main station stuff. Maybe I missed the unexpected save thing...seems I need to check that myself. At least in that behemoth-thread it's stated that a dockable ship in interstellar space becomes handled as the main system station, thus explaining why a save could be possible as effect of a bug.
The biggest surprise was, that when I launched from that ship, I was not in interstellar space, but that it had jumped to a nearby-system with me onboard. There wasn't the need I thought to buy the expensive fuel from that ship.
The Raceedat-Observation is true, many standard stations are being replaced with the Raceedat-type stations. I'm not sure if that's a bug (as others claim) or a feature (as I initially thought) - as it's a different type of station after all, but other stations are named by types which don't come from planets, which is strange. There should even be a wall visibile in the docking slit of that station...and docking computers becoming confused with the orientation of the bay. There's been a thread running about that thing recently, which also includes pictures of the two walls inside the docking area. I was told they could not interfere with docking ships, but to me it seems that they very well do.
It still seems odd that, when the police are losing a battle against Thargoids in witchspace, I can dock in a Behemoth that's about to die and find that upon relaunching the Behemoth has miraculously recovered and we are back in normal space. But I guess that's, er, non-trivial to fix, isn't it?
Worse (for me): moving to 1.72.2 has confused Trident Down. I'm at the WITCHSPACE stage of the game. Previously, forced misjumps around a certain set of planets would land me in witchspace often occupied by shuttles, transporters, escorts etc. as well as the usual police/Thargoid battle. (I never did see the escape pod issue an SOS, even in 1.72, but that's a different complaint ...). But now, in 1.72, it's always just police + Thargoids Help!

It also goes wrong when adding a station in witchspace. On launching you are in normal space. (tested with 1.72.1 and older)
occupied by shuttles, transporters, escorts etc
That is more likely a bug in a an oxp you have installed. They should check for witchspace before adding. One of your oxp's doesn't. Just strange that Oolite's version changes that.
I've uploaded Trident Down v1.2 that should fix the bug with the Raceedat station. FYI this is just a copy of the Gritty Coriolis OXP station with a specific name so that I could call it up in the mission.

I would at least guess that the Behemoth can be shot down while you are docked. I saw them go down early during interstellar battles. This happens with other dockable-things like space bars: when they are being destroyed, you are force-launched from the bar. However, typically some Thargoid used a Q-bomb to take out the bar, thus the force-launch brings one directly into the sphere of death...but the commander at least gets an idea of what happened (most often I am not shot down, but have full shields and suddenly it reads "press space").
