Mosquito won't scoop cargo

Post by lolwhites »

I just bought a Mosquito trader and fitted fuel scoops to it. However, every time I try to scoop a cargo container it just bangs into me.

Are some ships able to fit scoops but not pick up stuff?

I've had difficulty with the Imperial Courier, I think it has something to do with the placement of the fuel scoop.

Does this mean there's no point in getting a Mosquito trader if I want to scoop cargo containers, or have I just not got the hang of it?

I'd keep with it for now, but if the number of cargo pods you destroy trying to scoop exceeds your Elite Rating, I'd trade for an easier 'scooper'. :D

Without <key>scoop_position</key> in the shipdata.plist, the scoop is put where it would be on a Cobra 3, which as you found out doesn't work out so well on oxp ships. Most authors, it turns out, just forget that little detail.
Running Oolite buttery smooth & rock stable w/ tons of eyecandy oxps on:
ASUS Prime X370-A
Ryzen 5 1500X
16GB DDR4 3200MHZ
128GB NVMe M.2 SSD (Boot drive)
1TB Hybrid HDD (For software and games)
EVGA GTX-1070 SC
1080P Samsung large screen monitor

I've just found that you can scoop cargo in a Mosquito. You just have to be a bit more careful about positioning than in a Cobra or Supercobra.
