Can we do anything with the Glowroids?
I might add in a later version a script causing some damage to infected hermits and, eventually, ships in close distance to one. My first idea was to drain energy but all of that need a deeper look in all involved OXP's.

Fair dibs!

Second issue: to what extent does this glowing fungus affect the value of asteroidal splinters?

Heh heh! Got you there!

Any pilot foolish enough to scoop splinters from an infected asteroid could be in trouble. If glowmoss spores get inside a ship, anything copper (such as electrical wiring) might well be eaten. Ship systems such as HUD displays may start to malfunction.

I could imagine that if you got my resource pack installed gemstones and crystals could be the result from mining operations.

Hey! Hey! Hold on a second!
There are tales told of it eating its way through hull plating, and it seems particularly attracted to copper. But that's only old spacers' talk, which exobiologists dismiss as fanciful.
The words of the learned savant of Galaxy 7! Himself! In person! He even stuck them on a wiki page! His very own!

<grins> What do exobiologists know! As I said, hooks to hang a mission on.
If that foolish pilot then went to a main station to sell those splinters...

Version 1.10 is now available. It includes rock hermits from the following sources:

core game
Spicy Hermits OXP (spara)
Pirate Coves OXP (Eric Walch)
Harder Hermits OXP (UK_Eliter)

All together 7 hermit variants are available, each with 14 different glowing. I did run some tests, but I wasn't able to check all 98 adaptations. Please let me know if you see any bugs or copy & paste (my specialty ).

It will take another release to fine-tune the chances of appearance but for now I intend to return to finish some ship OXP's.

Thanks, Montana!

My Box link in the first post now points to the original OXP (v1.0), which contains no enhancements.

Always welcome Cody, I will do some tuning later but I first I need to get a feeling how often I run into "infected" rocks and how plausible that could be.

Now if Griff's Icesteroids should become available, that'd be cool!

No, not that one. If memory serves, Griff intended to merge his Glowroids with the Icesteroids he was then working on.

i couldn't understand the shader example that well, it works but you have to get really close to the iceteroid and put it between yourself and the sun to get the effect to work
