Doctor Who

Post by Alex »

The new Doctor is a woman. Fair enough, she looks good, but will she be able to pull the "THE" in the Doctor?
Are we going to be afflicted with teen boy side kicks?
My fav Doc was Jon Pertwee, what with the silly cape and Bessie the yellow brick of a car.
The car is a one of. Commissioned by the doctor. When you look at the episodes where he drives it, ye, handles like a brick in a tornado.

Who is your favourite Doctor and any reason why.

Yes I just surmised that most of yous like Doctor Who.

It's about time (pun intended) - and I'm not a fan!

Arthur Dent: I always said there was something fundamentally wrong with the universe.

Where's the poll? :)

Tenant's been my favorite since reboot. Sadly, I have not seen much of the old ones.

Tom Baker for the old, Peter Capaldi for the new (although David Tennant had better stories, mostly).

The Doctor has had teen boy sidekicks before, but I don't see why a female Doctor would require one … Should we be concerned though that a female Doctor is causing a whole mass of full-grown adult males to throw tantrums over what is - "family show" tag notwithstanding - a children's TV programme? What on earth does this say about the attitudes of a great many men towards the other half of the species? To say nothing of the fragility of some people's grip on what actually matters in life: an unreasonable number of keyboard warriors are foaming at the fingers because a fictional regenerating alien has acquired lady-bumps …

On the plus side, the only reactions from actual children that I've seen have been along the lines of "What will her sonic screwdriver look like?", which gives me hope that the younger generation might just turn out to be a little less nuts than their predecessors.

David Tennant. I do not know the exact reason but if the question would be "who should be the next Doctor from the previous ones" then I choose him without hesitation.

My 14-year old offspring who happens to be a Doctor Who fan and a girl just bleakly commented that: "Timelords are the most advanced race in the universe and for them the concept of gender is just meh." :)

No, Peter Capaldi is the 13th incarnation (there's the retroactively inserted "War Doctor", in 2013, who came before Christopher Eccleston), and they've already written their way around that one. Even in the original series, it was shown to be possible: in The Deadly Assassin with Tom Baker, the Master had a plan to acquire a "new cycle" of regenerations (which, given that the Master was able to regenerate in the new series, he obviously managed to do at some point).

And not only did the Master appear to get his extra regenerations, he is now female! (Missy, The Mistress)

My adopted 12 year old lass said "When I'm 30 I might choose a boy friend."

What as males are we doing wrong?

That was some years ago and a few boyfriends for her. Still laugh my socks off thinking how serious she was about the 30 thing.

Only a little more years, She'll be 30 and I can tell her what she said.
Huge evil type laugh. What? Never watched old movies with the spine chilling laugh?

I'm with the 14 Y.O. Gender is not an issue with the Doctor.
As usual, I'll store the episodes so I can binge watch the season.
Hoping the writers will give her good stories.

The Doctor has a daughter. Have yous forgotten that episode? She regenerated on the last scene. And stole a time ship. Now she has a mum instead of a dad time lord parent. How funny can that be?

will have to modify David Tennants quote.... lol

"Wibbly Wobbly
Timey wimey
gender bendery"

i think i was taken aback for about 5 seconds when the new doctor was announced then i actually started to think and came to the conclusion , "why not?" ..
this might be a nice creative kick in the pants for the writers, open up all sorts of possibilities....
Arthur: OK. Leave this to me. I'm British. I know how to queue.
