On the subject of ‘scuffed’ (which I like a lot), can I take the mainhull_diffuse_spec.png from the scuffed Cobra III and replace the one in the multi-decal Cobra with it?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

i *think* so, i don't think there were any changes made to the UV layout on the model so the textures should fit, you'll have to copy the normal map over too otherwise the bumpy bits won't match

If exchanging textures works, would you mind posting a screen shot for all to see.

Will do... as soon as I can fix/rebuild my machine and take to the 'lanes again, which may be a couple of weeks.
It's driving me crackers, what with having 1.75 installed and not being able to run it.

That's what I thought you'd say... right on, Gimi.

Griff's multidecal cobra scuffed version. (Swapped textures from "Griff's all in one".)
Griff, I swapped all three textures (not the gun textures). Should I swap over those as well.

multidecal cobra III scuffed texture version

:D ha, i got ninja'd!
I don't think you need to swap the gun textures, if there's any difference, it's probably just some minor scratches and grime painted into the texture, if it's not noticable in game there's probably no need to copy them over, sorry this is a bit vague, i can't remember that far back when the oxp was made!

nice pics Gimi, it does look like the model needs swapping over too, the texture on the 'engine' polygons on the top of the ship isn't fitting properly near the front, it looks like i moved some of the UV's around when i made the cleaned-up version

This is one "Ninja" I'm proud of, but you had to do a lot more than I did. I just copied and changed the file-names. You made it so that I can have both installed at once. :-)

Good that you can see it, cause I can't.

Well, I'll move everything back and install your version with the modifications for the decals and views.
Any easy way to amend my save-game so that it uses the scuffed version?

yes, open your save game in a text editor, search for
<key>ship_desc</key>
and change the line underneath to

Code: Select all

<string>griff_normalmapped_scuffed_cobra_mkIII_multidecal_player</string>
