Maybe they dominate/subjugate the place but keep entire planets/stations fairly intact to use as freshly stocked pantries. that would enable missions to go in and free/rescue people etc.
OK, this is actually a cool idea.

Given that the Wiki site has very little on it, I am not intending to refer to it much. The only thing listed there is some thargoid stuff and some witchspace stuff and some mission stuff alongside some instructions on plists.
Thy eminence,

I stumbled across your description of Thargoids from 2006.

Do you still recall where it originally came from? We are currently considering what Thargoid conquered systems might be like - and trying to generate images of them.

That image I uploaded comes with an anecdote: it was created by Qwen, but not in a chat wherein we had previously been discussing Oolite or Elite. It was the chat I used to create the "colourful background images" for World Builder, which I kept separate from the one wherein we discussed the script. Previous prompts had included the words "planet" and "space station", but no mention of the specific context of Oolite, or even gaming in general. So, I selected that chat session, and typed in this exact prompt: "Thargoids! (On a black background.)"

The result you can see was its first, and only, attempt. I was quite impressed.
"Must keep this response efficient to preserve remaining context."

Do you want to see what Qwen does with Selezen's description?

"Thargoid" is what they call themselves - or what we call them? If the latter... "Thargoid Home Planet" surely.

This is about worlds they conquer, we don't know where their original home is.

So then surely we would refer to it by the old name and then mention that the Thargoids had conquered it? No?

Tibet is still called Tibet, not "Xizang". The West Bank is still called the West Bank, not "Judea & Samaria".
