<Dons Star-Trek-Geek-T-shirt> The orignal TV series Enterprise was a Constitution Class, the first movie (and 2nd and 3rd) was the original TV series Ship with a mid-life refit (new improved engines, nacelles and deflector dish technology improved again post repairs after the fight with Khan) but still a Constitution class ship. The Enterprise-A (post STIII:TSFS) was technically still just about a Constitution Class but was so heavily redesigned that it is often referred to as an Enterprise-Class ship amongst those in the know (and originally started life as USS Yorktown)
Ahem. Actually, the Original Enterprise is Constitution Class, the Movie-era Enterprise is a Constitution Class (Refit) and so is the Enterprise-A.

Enterprise-class is a misnomer put forth by the Franz-Joseph publishing house and proliferated by the FASA corporation when thier roleplaying game and starship combat games were released (based on the Franz-Joseph information).

I win the geek award.

I was going to do the Enterprise-D class ship from TNG.
But because I have no clue in the heck how to work subentities, it looks like tribble droppings. Also, can someone give me the radius of the saucer and the length of the waqrp nacelles, both in meters?

According to my blueprints:

DIAMETER of saucer section (widest LtoR) 459m
DIAMETER of saucer section (narrowest FtoB) 374m
Height (captains yacht up to bridge) 59m

Nacelle's:

Length (from Bussard collect (glowing purple thing) to back) 359m
Width (widest at back) 142m to Bussard collector (front) 122m
height 31m

You might want to do the docking bays although docking bay 1 is probably the only practical one (back of saucer section) H:9m W 66m

Docking bay 2: H: 6m W 14m
Docking Bay 3: H: 6m W: 24m

Hope that helps!

Blueprints are too large to scan but I could probably photograph on my 5MP camera and PM them to you...

True...

but...

Having helped build some scale models for a couple of Star Trek Conventions (I was a lot geekier than I am now) the -A is longer, wider, taller than the ST:TMP original refitted Constitution-class Enterprise (data derived from measurements taken from the original models for the movies from a man I met who used to work a Pinewood (amongst other places) ) - that's another reason why the idea of the "Enterprise class" came about - the Enterprise-A was going to be the first of her class - but then they back filled the story that they renamed the Yorktown in honour of Kirk's achievements and of course the Yorktown was a Constitution class ship...

Fortunately, since none of its real (save the Aircraft Carrier and the Shuttle) its all moot (enjoyable but moot!)

PS
There's obviously a few Trekies ( or should that be Trekers? ) about.
Frankly I'm a little worried... please be kind if the model isn't perfect.
Had to keep the verts down somehow!

@TGHC - Too bloody right!
@Charlie - Right On Commander! I can almost hear the Thargoids in your first screenie saying "Hide Your Shyness, Fruit Horse." <Translates to "WTF is that!">

YAY! Buck passed successfully.
I wins.
I gave up on the D.
Compared to everyone here (specially Griff) I really stink.
So I'm down with that.

@Charlie - I think in the US we're called Trekkers but here in the UK we generally prefer Trekkies.

The ships are brilliant considering the polycount - so no critisism - but one question - why's the ship's NCC designation mirrored?

Some nice work there, Charlie! I notice the Thargoid Carrier lurking in the background and it pales in comparison to your work.

I get a similar texture reversal problem with some of my models. When it was happening someone suggested it could be due to the resolution of the texture image. Other than that I don't know how to fix it other than flipping the texture.
