Re: Science Fiction Trivia
OK, I don't think I've asked this one before, apologies if I have:
Which 1960s CHILDREN'S SF novel (part of a very long series) includes the following scene - the male character (name omitted as possibly searchable) has the only dialogue and is talking to a captive female character:
They both stared at each other in the silence that followed. Slowly then, very deliberately, (male character) raised the whip until it was level with his face.
"Your tender flesh," he said hoarsely, "is about to feel my first caresses."
And no, this one has nothing to do with Leather Goddesses of Phobos...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
You're close enough - the book is Doctor Who and the Crusaders by David Whittacker, which was based on The Crusade. I can't honestly remember if this line was in the show. Barbara was kidnapped by El Akir, some sort of courtier to Saladin, played by an actor who was also a menacing Aztec in the Aztec episodes, and had lots of other roles:

Going through the clues and hints:
First clue - the setting for this story (but not the series as a whole) is the 12th Century. - it's set during the 12th century crusades
Clue - the female character's initials are BW. - Barbara Wright
Well, you're 50% right... - Barbara, but not Windsor
And one letter added to my quote would make the other 50% - Adding a W to right in my previous answer makes Wright
Clue: This story originally appeared in another form. - Not a lot of options in the 1960s...
Clue: Richard the Lionheart and Saladin are important characters in this story. - finally gave it away!
OK, have a mysteriously spaceworthy wooden police box with a flashing blue poisoned chalice on top.
Over to you!

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
Do I perchance detect the sort of convoluted utilisation of logic required to complete a cryptic crossword clue?

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
bugger, i thought i was obtuse enough to just prod the next guess.
that means im going to land the TARDIS and hope the cybermen give me enough time to posit a question... one moment please...
There are other K-9 type robots.
im after the name of the Sci Fi show, the animal this robot is modeled after and if possible for huge MBP the robots name.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
OK, since it seems to have gone a bit quiet I did a search.
Are we talking about Murphy K-9, a black and white robotic dog that looks vaguely like an Alsatian in the Japanese anime Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, part of the Power Rangers thing, with the ability to transform into a bazooka?

Answers
1) Battlestar Galactica (the original series)
2) A Daggit as they called it, basically a dog, needed as no Daggits had been saved when the Cylons destroyed the 12 colonies and every boy needs a Daggit (see next answer).
3) Muffit was its name and it was owned by Boxey, Apollo's adopted son after he marries Jane Seymour's character Serina and therefore grandson of Adama, Captain of the Galactica.
Additional Stuff
1) Jane Seymour wanted nothing to do with an ongoing series at the time so her character was killed off in the 3rd episode.
2) In the revised series, Galactica 1980, Boxey grows up to become Captain Troy, Adama's replacement as head of the fleet and Captain of the Galactica.
3) The Daggit suit was run internally by a chimpanzee named Evie being that the series could not afford the expense of the early C.G.I. that were around at the time.
Most of the above was Goggled to refresh my fading memories. The original Batlestar Galactica series holds a special place for me. Was just starting my Higher Education at the time it was first aired on the tube with the intent of becoming a bit of a writer. Submitted several script concepts to the show for consideration as episodes but since there was no way for me to know ahead of time in what direction they were headed with the series they were all rejected. Still the correspondence with those running the show was encouraging and surprising pleasant. Not what one would normally expect in the face of rejection or, as would later be learned, what one usually gets from Hollywood types.
