I wonder if Putin was able to blackmail Trump with stuff from his earlier visits to Mother Russia?

Most likely, a trained spy against a mentally sick moron, there was a reason why Russian hackers tried to boost this guys' election in the past in the first place. While Trump prided himself to be "unpredictable" his metal profile and his personality made it easy to predict and manipulate a simple mind.

Let me rephrase it, foreign intelligence officer, as much as I recall 16 years KGB with last rank Lt. Colonel. Btw the former head of the CIA Gina Haspel worked as a field officer as well.

I have no facts to contend that Mr Putin was not field officer, just I doubt it. There is technical, analytical and just bureaucratic personnel in any intelligence and this later part of staff tends to overgrow.

I do agree with you that analytical and administration departments usually include the most employees. How accurate this information is I can not say.
