Missiles and Bombs update

Post by phkb »

Rather than resurrect a 7-year old thread (which you can find here, if you're interested), I thought I'd create a new one.

I was playing around with various missiles from this OXP and I noticed that some of the missiles weren't doing any damage at all. The Intercept missile was an example of this. The reason is because the original AI script for the missile was calling a deprecated, and buggy, core function to deliver damage.

So, rather than trying to fix a known core item that has been deprecated, it seems more logical to fix the OXP. And this is the result: Missiles_and_Bombs.oxz v2.6

Pretty much the only thing I've done is remove the old, non-working function calls and replaced them with the new equivalents. I think I've got the energy settings correct, but if someone wants to have a look over my conversions I'd be happy for some input.

In any case, if a few people out there can do some tests on this version and confirm it's working as expected, we can arrange for an updated version to go into the download manager.

Edit: The download manager has now been updated.

Was going to ask if this would effect the Armory oxz but I see I have both installed so shouldn't be a problem.

Nice one!

I will give this a whirl - Like Black Wolf I use Armoury (cos I'm cheap and like to have missiles on demand)

UPDATE

I am really enjoying this oxp - adds much variety to battles. :D

My particular favourite at present is the chaff launcher which makes a great improvement to the AMS I previously tried in armoury (which was so expensive to stock and burned through missiles at a frightening rate - it would have been as cheap to launch your wallet out the window to take out missiles).

Ohh I must give the the injector missiles a try soon :-)

Great job !

Well done, phkb, and thank you. I think I'd wondered about some of those missiles. ('I hit it, right . . ?')

I've just published version 2.7, which simply adds a distinct icon for the Intercept missiles.
