Ident system

Post by gsagostinho »

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any OXP which tweak the ident system to be more forgiving when it comes to centralizing a target? I use only mouse and keyboard, and I often find it a bit too difficult to centralize a distant ship or small objects (in particular because of the type of crosshair of the HUD that I use). I could swear that there was an OXP which did just that, so that a target which is near enough to the centre of the crosshair gets identified (even if not perfectly centralized). Does anyone know if such a thing really exist and what is the name of this OXP? Many thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Gilberto

Do you use precision mode (hold Ctrl down) for the flight keys?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I do. The thing is I use the Xenon HUD, and if the weapons are toggled off there is no central crosshair, just two large "parenthesis". So often I have to toggle weapons just to be able to aim.

This sounds like the "lock on the most centered target" feature of Telescope.

You could also try the Fast Target Selector.

Oh, that's excellent! Now that makes life much easier :)

I have also modified some of the png files from the Xenon HUD to include a central dot on all crosshairs which are missing them, so this is how it looks now when weapons are offline:

Thanks again!
