Oh Giles it's hard to be humble, when you're flying a fer-de-lance.
There's guys in my rear view scanner, who just don't stand a chance.
To fly it is to love it, and be who all the girls wanna please
But I try to keep myself grounded, in case I ever loose the damn keys.
Well I used to fly a Cobra,
A good ship if truth be told
But it just didn't get the attention,
So that thing just had to be sold
I've seen pythons, anacondas
Heck I've even flown a krait,
But if you still don't know what I'm saying,
Then you just ain't been hearing me strait

Sure there are ships that are faster,
Boats with more capacity
But them things don't have the glamour,
Just don't attract all the kitty
Now you might say that I'm shallow,
And you may be the much wiser man
But as soon as I dock at this station,
I'm gonna have all the fun that I can

Well done Redspear!
I'm didn't know original, so in order to 'sing along', I had to look it up, and found out that I am actually familiar with a Dutch cover of it ("moeilijk bescheiden te blijven") so I know the melody and rhythm/cadence for the lyrics.

I liked your use of "Xexidi" in the credits for nothing thread; that one made me chuckle
I had no idea there was a Dutch cover same meaning, right?
To me it's just a funny song I heard as a kid (note to self: probably makes more sense to pick a serious song next time...)
Re: With apologies to Mac Davis...
Thanks. Personally, I thought the 'look at that Mamba'-verse was a real gem, but perhaps a bit obvious.
Yes. Hard to remain modest when you're as awesome as I am. If the original were more serious, this cover would be a parody.
