In the expansion pack manager in the game, when I select the "Additional Planets SR Others Gas Giants" v1.1, it reports that the download size is "<1 KB". This seems to be a *touch* smaller than the actual download size of 19MB!

Just thought you'd like to know.
Sure would! Thanks for that phkb!

Additional six zeros in the file size field can help - or the remove of separator commas/dots.
Don't think it was the commas... maybe I omitted the number altogether :|

I'll have a look...

Noticed all these new Additional planets, earth like, ocean, gas giant... I assume that DLing all the texture packs won't cause a problem? You don't have to pick and choose?

Hi mossfoot.

They're designed to be used together. You can mix and match according to taste :-)

Some pictures on the first page of this thread (I need to do more...)

Hi,
Tried downloading Additional Planets SR: Earthlike oxz, but think there's a typo in the manifest.plist:
11:03:46.968 [plist.parse.failed]: Failed to parse /Users/Library/Caches/org.aegidian.oolite/Oolite-download.oxz/manifest.plist as a property list.
Unexpected character { at line 1
11:03:46.968 [oxz.manager.error]: Downloaded OXZ does not contain a manifest.plist, has been left in /Users/Library/Caches/org.aegidian.oolite/Oolite-download.oxz

Just a flying visit at present but I thought this worth mentioning:

Not working on my PC at present :( (else I'd have some new packs on the go ) but looks promising enough...

I've just been trying to download some of the texture packs from the links in the first post, but Box.com isn't letting me download anything. Is this just me?

Hi phkb.

Unless it really is just you, I won't get a chance to properly investigate for at least 12 hours. I will look into it though.

Thanks for the report.

I found out the problem after a little digging. Apparently your box account is out of bandwidth.

That's a problem Griff encountered. We got round it by having a couple of 'satellite' boxes (owned by two other forum users) as reserves.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Yes, that was always the main suspect...

The 'free bitmaps' texture files are huge (too big for the wiki) but there does seem to have been some downloading of superceeded files lately (I should probably remove those links as some of them might even be buggy).

Sorry.

Which files were you after?

The "Free Bitmaps" file (242mb), the "Other planets" file (13.4mb) and the "Other moons" file (9.5mb).

I'll see if I can split up the free bitmaps one and add it to the manager.

The 'others' were something of the bottom of the barrel I'm afraid as I was experimenting with which images I could turn into a planet texture. They should fit on the manager no problem (hmm... should probably make a wiki page while I'm at it).

I've split the free bitmaps texture pack into 3 parts:
  • Dusty
  • Icy
  • Rocky
The first of those three has now been uploaded to the manager with others to follow.
