Hi all
Never used one. Always blow up - hit space - retry. However, I'd like to be a bit more realistic in my next character and go where death = death.
Obv. an escape pod is a necessity there.
What does it DO? I remember vaguely in Elite that an escape pod came with a like-for-like ship-insurance policy. Do I get my ship back, add-ons included (just no cargo)? Or just the vanilla version of my current ride?

Yes. You also get to keep the contents of your ship's safe (precious metals and gems, plus any parcels). There's usually a quite substantial time penalty, though - it takes time to sort out all the paperwork and get you your new ship (i.e. the game-clock gets wound ahead by quite a margin).Hullblazer wrote:Do I get my ship back, add-ons included (just no cargo)?

Ah, thank you!
Does the game clock serve any purpose other than to mark time? My reactions/abilities don't seem to be failing even though I've been playing several hundred hours?

If you're not running any contracts, then no, the clock won't seem to perform any useful purpose. With any of the contracts though, and time becomes critical.

Some [wiki]Oolite Missions[/wiki] are limited in time also.
I usually wasn't enough fast to press Esc so I suggest [wiki]Auto eject OXP[/wiki] for Escape Pod.

Re: Quick Escape Pod Help?
By the way, I have to pay a fine for docking without clearance when I eject. Is it intended? (I use Auto Eject OXP).

Re: Quick Escape Pod Help?
No fine for docking without clearance after ejecting here - it must be the OXP causing that.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

No such problem here with Auto Eject OXP in Oolite 1.83, maybe it is already fixed in trunk.
