I think, no other ships has so many variants like the Python, and there must be a reason for this. And unlike the Boa and the Anaconda, you can imagine it as a battleship with it's outer shape. One day I'll try to fit gun subentities...

I just accepted a 14724+23232 Cr contract - the highest paying I've ever had. And I'll have to pass Xeines. Again!

Xeines, eh... nice place, but I reckon the Qusoxe/Qumaza crossing is tougher!

If I survive this trip I'll try to get a contract that brings me there.

I love Oolite: I just escorted a Monitor. There were no pirates, but he helped me dealing with with some assassins attacking me! And still I was the one getting paid! :D

The life of a courier... 24k to deliver some recipes for snake meat? Who do they think I am?

What in particular is so ideal about this ship with respect to a courier ? A parcel courier should not need cargo space, but speed is important for running away when out of fuel and such. It doesn't particularly fit these requirements.

After completing quite a bit of courier work, I daresay, I'm a bit disappointed by the result.

The intention to start this was to get a bit more action. I like "random hits" missions, but apart from that, the only real thrill seems to be a visit to Anarchy systems every now and then. I also like the galactic navy, but that OXP needs some fresh paint on it... Reading Codys tales of assassinations during parcel runs, I got fond of it and gave it a try. Since a while I do cross galaxy trips with parcels, passengers and cargo.

Meanwhile I have a perfect rating (congratulations you are the most renowned....) for parcels and cargo, almost impeccable for passengers. Currently I have 12 parcels, 7 cargos and a few passengers to deliver. But though the long run parcels pay fairly good, the turnaround for that 6912kg gem stone (!) cargo is still much better. Anyway, this was not about money. So what about the action?

I got not assassinated a single time yet. I do select a few contracts, then I take everything that's either on the route or close to. Consequently I can not choose by means of thrill level if the weapon research is fairly off. But I already had a few of these too. No one showed up to kill me for that. So currently I'm carrying:
press records (2), data backups (1), legal records (1), recipes (1), medical data (1), trial exhibits (2), corporate research (3), diplomatic cases (1)

What do I do wrong?

I don't know the answer to that, but try some mineral surveys.

That seems strange. With me, carrying passengers or parcels makes a big difference in the number of attacks, and it can be a real challenge to pass through an anarchy system, especially getting past the reception party at the witchpoint.

I don't know, but you should be being attacked. I currently have 4 high, 4 medium & 1 low risk parcels and 1 medium risk passenger

Code: Select all

<key>parcels</key>
			<string>Rebinued Eran's trial exhibits</string>
			<key>risk</key>
			<integer>1</integer>

			<string>Geusedus Thil's prototype technology</string>
			<key>risk</key>
			<integer>2</integer>

			<string>Maerge Soso's corporate research</string>
			<key>risk</key>
			<integer>2</integer>

			<string>Diitorilis Thseal's weapon designs</string>
			<key>risk</key>
			<integer>1</integer>

			<string>Alan Erillaqu's mineral surveys</string>
			<key>risk</key>
			<integer>0</integer>

                        <string>Ra Edbein's corporate research</string>
			<key>risk</key>

			<key>risk</key>
			<integer>2</integer>

	<key>passengers</key>
			<string>Or Innes</string>
			<key>risk</key>
			<integer>1</integer>

All of which pretty much guarantee attack in an unsafe system.
I wonder, if you remove the OXPs do you get attacked? Is there something that's removing the assassins?

Hm... I'm currently at Xeines, that bottleneck in Galaxy 3. There and at the Anarchy system before was quite some action. But.. dunno, wasn't someone saying assassins would be distinguishable from the pirates as the assassins would be clean? All hostile groups I met and shot were offenders/fugitives. Encountered just somewhere in the system, not waiting at the beacon.

Code: Select all

<string>Lebenuis Noa’se's medical data</string>
	    <key>premium</key>
	    <real>0</real>
	    <key>risk</key>
	    <integer>2</integer>
	    <key>start</key>
	    <integer>35</integer>
this means risk is 2, which I assume is the highest? There's plenty in my savegame.
Do these change? I think I looked at it an hour ago and all were 0, now almost all are 2..??

I'm not running many OXPs. Except the eye candy it's random hits and galactic navy.

It seems, once the program finally wanted to give me some of them guys, but couldn't?

Why?? I this not a core game rule??

Which shipset(s) are you using? Anything other than Oolite's core ships?

Would it be possible for any shipset to remove a role completely? But without assassins, no attacks, of course.

Because the Python design is freaking ancient!

I see only "Smivs'Shipset-SD-v4 .2_replace.oxp" in the OXP list. I don't know it but from the name it seems to replace the core ships.
