Zygo's OXP's are great and I like the ambient level as it is.
It's a little too dark for me - I use ambient_level = 0.5; (what is Oolite's default?).
1.0 according to the wiki.http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Planet ... ient_Level I find 0.25 gives the affect I like.

Thanks - I should've known that.

0.05 by that OXP. I tried 0.7 and find this very comfortable.

Sensible Sun isn't, nor Far Sun or Distant Suns but [EliteWiki] Realistic Stars set it to 0.1 - thank you another_commander for the tip.

My search in planetinfo files show more which change the ambeint level but in a few specific systems only. No problem with these imho, just a list:
Aquatics
Assassins
Interstellar Tweaks (in interstellar space where 0.8 is absolutely imaginable)
Ionics
Riredi

A couple+1 more, these ones in ultra-wide format. Makes the Coriolis look (even more) majestic. BTW, this is stock graphics, only running OXP here is the rescale experiment one.

@spud42: The originals are 1834x600, taken in windowed mode. I was just testing how the game responds in an unconventional window size and thought 'while we're here, why not?'.

No worries, be my guest. Here is a zip with all 12 of those shots I took during the test. Enjoy. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwG6R5 ... sp=sharing

Cim's [wiki]Camera Drones[/wiki] are indispensable to my image and video capturing. Here, I am using the Follow Target camera to record this Sidewinder Escort on final approach. ZgrOovy!

How is this rescaling experiment going btw? Will we mortals ever get to play with it?

Thanks for reminding me! I still have to compile some Linux binaries for testing..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

The code for it is already on github under a dedicated branch. I'd still need to do some work with it before it can be considered mergeable with master (and the plan for now is that it won't interfere with master functionality when merged, special build options will be needed to activate it).

Having said that, if you go to the Rescaling Experiment thread, you will be able to find some older published binaries that could be used for showing what the current status looks like. You will also need to install the related OXP containing the data for the rescaled models.

Hopefully we will have some news on that soon. Emphasis on hopefully due to free time restrictions.
