How to enable compact HUD?

Post by vaxon »

Forgive me my ignorance, I've just installed Compact HUD oxz for oolite 1.80 and I don't see any change.
The log doesn't show any errors. How do I enable compact HUD instead of the default one?

TIA.

It should "just work".. do you have any other HUDs installed, as OXPs or OXZs?
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Hmm.. not that it's related, but Norby's HUDSelector won't work with it, as I haven't made the necessary changes yet..

You are flying a standard Cobra MkIII, I presume? Some ships, (I don't recall which ones) use their own special HUDs, though a HUD OXP/Z should override that.

Something else I've just noticed, though.. the picture of CompactHUD on the wiki doesn't look like the HUD I adapted.. there is something strange going on, I suspect. I'm beginning to wonder if I've managed to just re-create the now standard HUD from an old XML style plist..

I'll need to do some checking/experimenting on all this, I think. Sorry about all the confusion. For now, just use whatever you were using before, while I check it out.

I've tried without HUDSelector, still no chage.

Okk.. the screw-up is definitely on my part.. something is messed up, so Oolite is defaulting back to the standard HUD.

My apologies.. I'll get it sorted as soon as I can.

I tried with the mentioned OXPs and works as Default HUD due to this setting brings up the actual hud.plist.
Vaxon, you should see this HUD:

The original HUD looks like this:

CompactHUD is now fixed.. but I'm having trouble getting it to work with the HUD Selector. I've posted the details in the HUD Selector thread.

Thanks to Spara, who pointed out the mistake I'd made, CompactHUD v1.2 is now working properly with the HUD Selector, and is available for download. It also has more features enabled than before. See the main thread for details.
