Courteous ordinance.
I fired a missile at a distant Python during some heavy combat and later got around to shooting the said Python only to get a "thank you" message from my missile.

The missile thing is a known bug; I think Giles has said the fix will be part of the “character” code that’s currently part-done.

Aw. I rather like it. I think the courteous missiles should stay.
But when the missiles start to say, "You're endangering the mission, Dave", and, "I'm sorry, Dave. I can't do that", then I will start to get concerned.
Especially since my name isn't Dave.

It's not something you GET. It is technically a bug.
As the first post in this thread states, it is something that can happen when you fire a missile, and then destroy the targetted ship before the laser gets to it. (I have never done this myself.) It is apparently a "bug" caused by code intended to make ships thank you when you help them in a fight.
