A Ferdie redesign that is not; however, tis an interesting ship in its own right. I'd be interested in seeing that in my Ooniverse; not abandoning Sic Vita Est to fly it though!commanderxairon wrote:you should make a ferdelance with this kind of design

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
I think that, however you design it, it should ideally follow the same lines as your other models, i.e. follow the same essential hull plan of the original. Maybe though the unsatisfactory element is the almost flat underside, and the sharp 90° angles between the top and the sides? If they were smoothed out a bit, made sleeker and more speedboaty ... ?Griff wrote:Thanks guys , i think i will weed these ships out of the bundle and have them just as optional addins, i'll see if i can do a better fer-de-lance first though as i'm not too keen on both attempts i've had at it so far I'm thinking of looking at posh speedboats as a reference, it seems to be shaped along those lines, a luxury yacht or something

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
you should wait then for my new shipset since i will put the same design lines... of course id not add as much detail because of the polycount would be too high... if you want to play with those designs play Space Conflict, also his designs can be found in black prophecy and in freelancer discovery mod, mainly in fighters and in some heavyweight shipsRese249er wrote:A Ferdie redesign that is not; however, tis an interesting ship in its own right. @commanderxairon - Wow karanak's ship concept art is amazing!
I haven't got a picture of a speedboat to post, but i always thought that hand held vacuum cleaners also look a bit fer-de-lance ish

And a 'vacuun cleaner' ship would be useful to the bounty hunters - it would help them clean up the spacelanes

Code: Select all
17:27:10.765 [xxxxxx-ship-script]: Xxxxxx found some scum. Attacking a Rolling Thunder with a bounty of 32.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Just noticed a typo in Griff_Shipset_Addition_v1.22.oxp
Name is set as 'Moary'
griff_normalmapped_moray_eng_NPC
and griff_normalmapped_moray_eng_Player

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
Hello
I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I've added :
Griff_Shipset_Replace_v1.34.oxp
and
Griff_Shipset_Resources_v1.2.25.oxp
and all looks wonderful apart from the dodecahedron space stations. I've tried downloading and putting the file in individually, but it adds a new dodec rather than replacing the original.
I probably haven't expressed myself very well, but it can be tricky finding the right question, especially when reading through past posts
I'm sure replacing the default dodec with the Griff one ought to be easy, but I don't know how to do it.
Thanks

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
I use the same Griff replace/resources OXPs, and I have the
griff_dodo_normalmapped_fullsize_tex_v2.0.oxp
as a separate OXP in my AddOns
folder. It replaces the core Dodos, no problem... so it should work. What does the AddOns
section of your Latest.log
show?I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
