So far as I know, the late afternoon/evening option is winning. There is no firm venue yet which is something we should agree soon!
If I remember corectly the SandJs are going to be in Nottingham after lunch, and My family are probably aiming to get to the venue around 4-5pm so we can get some food into the Smivslets before they start to get ratty
As far as I know the intention is to stay in the venue rather than move on (crawl on?).

Reading the above string it sounds like our gathering is going to be a family event. If that's the case are we looking at a venue suitable for children ?
Family event or not It's looking like I should be able to make it
I don't know Nottingham at all but I'm sure that once we decide on a venue and time I can google it.
The GalTech Industries Corporation - Building ships to populate the galaxies.
Certainly a family-friendly event...the Smivslets are under five (which is why we'll not be staying too late).
We shortlisted a few venues near the station, so maybe it is time to make a decision!

Although I live on the outskirts of Nottingham, I've never been to any of the town-centre pubs so cannot recommend any from experience.
The Trip certainly looks like a good bet, and is children-friendly although I notice they say children are welcome until 7pm which might be a problem, although we would probably have to leave around 8 anyway, so we can probably work around that.
If everyone else is happy, I'd say it is a good choice.

It suits me! I think children would still be allowed in the outside seating after 7 (as long as it's not too late). If not, then it's not too much of a walk elsewhere for a bit.
I'm pretty sure I've seen kiddies there later than 7 in the summer, but always outside. It would be a big hit to those wishing to eat there if kids were all kicked out at tea time...
I've never eaten there myself, so I can't comment on how good the food is. Menu certainly looks good though.
At the moment it's not looking good on the availability of hotels so I might end up driving back home in the evening. We're going to try and get a last minute cheap booking on Friday or Saturday.
I'm happy with Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem if that's the choice (Seems as good as any). I've have a quick look on Google for directions etc and it seems good.
A successful technique I have used previously is an A4 sheet leaning against the inevitable table menu with an appropriate logo on it. In our case, something like this: I shall print one off and take it with me.
If, after the young ones depart circa 8pm, there remains enough bodies for a pub crawl, I'm up for that too. Or sit and get gently plastered.

I'm easy to recognize normally...you don't get many 6 foot Pumpkins in Notts, but I might confuse you and use my 'Acme Hume-look' holo-emitter, in which case I'll look like

Nottingham's theoretically possible for me too - a couple of hours train journey from Coventry, and not too expensive with a railcard. Although I have absolutely no idea what may or may not be happening in the future, I'll be keeping an eye on this on the off-chance I might actually be able to turn up!
Let's hope you can.
