Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
Hi McClane - I 'knocked-up' the replace shipdata really just to test if there were any obvious problems switching between save games with different replace packs etc, and then offered it to Griff. I didn't look any deeper than that and other than the ship reference names everything else I left the same as the regular Griff's addition shipdata. So if there are game breaking problems with roles etc I must admit responsibility I'm sure Griff would appreciate an amended version if you are happy to share.

Yes please. I use the replacement version, but would prefer just that. A replacement with game-play otherwise untouched.

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
Out of interest, given that the previous versions of Griffs used shipdata-overrides to give all the core ships a role of "unused", haven't the concerns raised by McClane always applied.....? I've pretty much always played my Oolite with Griff's installed - never been overtly aware of these problems.Capt. Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
Hi all, just installed this OXP as it looks sweet, did the usual by copying the oxp folder into AddOns directory but I'm still seeing the original textures in the game. Is there anything else I need to do? I have a decent enough graphics card (HD6770).

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
Hi Sorry to read you haven't got the shipset working yet, the oxp had a bit of a re-working a week or so ago and needs some extra 'companion oxps' to get working
first you need to download this file
http://deephorizonindustries.com/griffi ... 1.2.22.zip
unzip it's contents, find the folder that ends with .oxp cut/paste it into your Oolite AddOns folder, it's a big download, about 100meg - it's all the art assets for the ships and won't do anything much by itself other than take up space on your hard dive.
To get the ships appearing in game, you also need to download and add to Oolite only one of these oxp's
http://deephorizonindustries.com/griffi ... e_v1.1.zip
http://deephorizonindustries.com/griffi ... n_v1.0.zip
These are much smaller downloads, just use one of them, don't add both - they're just the config files that tell Oolite everything it needs to know in order to spawn the griff ships in game using the artwork from the bigger oxp.
"Griff_Shipset_Replace_v1.0.zip" oxp tries to fully replace the settings on the built in shipset ships with it's own (not a permanent overwrite - you can get your default game back by deleting this oxp from your AddOns folder), so you'll see the griff_shipset on the title screen etc
"Griff_Shipset_Addition_v1.0.zip" just adds these newships into the mix alongside the built-in ships, so you get the original models on the tilescreen, but you will find the griff ships appearing in game (and in the parade of ships on the "load new commander Y/N?" if you wait long enough for the originals ships to scroll by)
to be on the safe side, i'd recommend the Griff_Shipset_Addition_v1.0.zip for the moment, the Griff_Shipset_Replace_v1.0.zip oxp might have one or two small bugs that need ironing out
V1.1 of this oxp now includes Cmdr McLane's bugfix

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
Glad you got it working! if you like the shipset, there are a few extra ships not included in the bundle, but are available as standalone oxp's at: http://www.box.com/shared/rpkms25cc9
These are:
griff_CobraIII_alternate_model.zip (10.0MB) - a reworked, high polygon version of a CobraIII
griff_coriolis_normalmapped_alt_v2.0_(halfsize_textures).zip (12.7MB) - Adds a fancier looking Coriolis station, also available in a higher resolution texture version: http://deephorizonindustries.com/griffi ... t_v2.0.zip
Griff_Asteroids_normalmapped.zip (12.8MB) - adds a few more asteroid models (they're all a bit boring though)
Griff_alloys_and_wreckage.zip (1.5MB) - adds some glowing debris wreckage and some extra polygon 'sparks' when ships explode
griff_shipset_player_flyable_NPC_ships_v1.02.zip (18.2KB) - probably only works with the Addition version of the oxp - adds player flyable versions of the ships you don't normaly get to fly (usually because they can't hyperspace)
Griff_Hermit_normalmapped_half_size_textures.zip (4.0MB) - Adds a new rock hermit model (also available with higher resolution textures as Griff_Hermit_normalmapped_full_size_textures.zip (14.6MB)

Are your Glowmossteroids available, Griff? They're not boring!Griff wrote:Griff_Asteroids_normalmapped.zip (12.8MB) - adds a few more asteroid models (they're all a bit boring though)
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
Nice one, the new shipset and the planets/nebulae OXP have already transformed the graphics, will give some of these a go too.

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
Hi Griff, i was playing oolite earlier, well i'm still playing actually. Anyway while docking i noticed an original textured CobraIII while using your latest shipset and replace oxp. I snooped around and noticed in your replace oxp in the shipdata there was no entry for cobra3-trader. I've since added cobra3-trader to your shipdata file and hope it is the offending ship. Just thought i'd point it out!

I am currently revising the shipdata for the very same reason. I'll make it availably as soon as it's ready.NorthenderPNE wrote:Hi Griff, i was playing oolite earlier, well i'm still playing actually.
