Strange Ionics encounter

Post by ArkanoiD »

I met a Whitetail, offender, who just stopped in space after some maneuvers and did not fire either. I gave him 4 full cycles of laser, but it was still there! Kicked him with hardened missile and after a few more laser shots i succeeded in destroying that vessel, but there was nothing special with it - 15cr bounty and no cargo..

it's the AI 'bug' that came with 1.64...

Sometimes pirates go all 'sleepy', almost no reaction if you attack them, very strange.

I've had police ships just 'hanging' in space - at an acute angle to the path between planet and beacon - didn't move even though I slowed and stopped next to them.
They stayed there even after I got bored and carried on my way... strange... :?

v1.64, OSX 10.4.5, G5

Yes, it's a fairly common thing (Maybe I'm seeing it because I play on a fairly low-mem machine (384Mb)?

Usually, 'active' ships tend to slow down to a stop when I approach their vincinity... And an AI dump doesn't show anything suspicious, I even had a 'battle' going on between two groups of ships, shooting back and forth, but both hanging still in space! *very* eerie experience...

Mmmm, I don't think I'm that low spec - dual2.5 G5 and 2.5GB memory, so it's not that...

No, I meant: because I run a low-specced machine, i see it a lot, people w/ good specced machines much less so, and then (maybe) only after extended times of play...

I see it all the time - 2.8GHz Celeron, 512Mb RAM
(but i have to unload Mozilla before running Oolite, otherwise object movement may be jerky sometimes)

Highly unlikely to make a difference.
