Ghost Tharglets/Thargons.

Sometimes when I shoot at a thargoid controlled drone my lasers go right through them and I can not lock on to them. I am using 1.75.1
Is this a new problem?

Hi there

I've had that problem in 1.75 (specifically, in the newest semi-official beta) too. It's irritating! But, strangely, plasma turrets and missiles seem able to hit them.

If it happens again, please pause the game, press 0 (zero), and post the log. (If you can target the “ghost” ship, also press shift-H while not paused.)

I've seen Tharglets fly through the main system station. (which I was conveniently using as cover at the time.)

Thargons/Tharglets aren't complete ghosts now, but I'm seeing lots of my laser shots pass through them when those are clearly passing through their model.

In further tests, this effect doesn't seem reliable. I don't know when/how it happens, but it's mostly the edges of the Thargon that's hard to hit.

Sorry if this is off-topic.

I don't think I have ever managed to lock on a robot-controlled Tharglets - I assumed they have missile-lock-jamming technology. So I thought it was normal behaviour - is it?

However, despite not being able to lock on them, hitting them with the laser does work.

Edit - tried to reproduce it - couldn't. Sorry.

Flying a Cobra Mk I Cobbie 3 with nothing but Explorers Club.OXP and a beam laser 4 proper lasers for company :D

You definitely should be able to lock-on to a drone.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I'm still sometimes shooting through Thargons in v1.76.1 and Oolite development version 1.77.0.5403 (x86-32 test release) under Windows. Likewise, I am able to fly through these Thargons without colliding. Seems I need to do more tests.

Next time I see one I'll pause the game, press 0 (zero), and post the log. If I can target the “ghost” ship, I'll get the shift-H report as well while not paused.
