Congratulations, I'm sure it will indeed be a "Goat Sucker" of a ship!
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

I don't know, quite bird like - perhaps if the nose was a little more "beaky"?Killer Wolf wrote:looks more like a winged bug to me.

Oolite Life is now revealed hereSelezen wrote:Apparently I was having a DaddyHoggy moment.
Re: Show and Tell (new ships/ ships in progress)
Please note:- This ship will probably never be released for two reasons, 1) The poly count will be insanely massive when finished 2) Texturing it will be a nightmare and take a long long time, but I'm continuing to work on it cause I want to see how far I can push Oolite before it explodes hehe.
Anyway, here's a pic of my LRC Mk II:

A top-down view of the same part of the ship:

This section of the city is completely modelled, however there are 3 other sections like this on the ship I haven't started yet, and at 25% complete it already beats my original LRC in poly count.
By the way, this is all one continuous model, I didn't combine all the smaller bits into making one ship. was very hard to do.

Re: Show and Tell (new ships/ ships in progress)
Wow! I imagine this would be massive.
Re: Show and Tell (new ships/ ships in progress)
958 x 563 x 4125 is the dimensions on the LRC, this ones about the same size, so that city would only be about 900 square meters, but thats because of Oolites ship scale issues, if I made it the size of a real city the ship would almost be bigger than an Oolite planet For example the stadium should be well over 100 meters, but have had to make the field only 70 meters in order to fit better with Oolites scale. (The stadium is the big oval thing just left of the centre in the 2nd pic)Commander McLane wrote:Wow! I imagine this would be massive.
To put that in perspective, the cobra mk3 is 130 meters wide (That's right, an Oolite cobra Mk3 is wider than a football field!)
<Edit> There, corrected dimensions.
<Another Edit> Said to myself, the hell with it, I want my stadium to be almost regulation sized, there's enough room around it to make it work, so I scaled the stadium up a bit and the field (not including the walls) is now 86 meters long, not a regulation field for most sports, but well... they're in space so could have anti-grav games there! hehe

Trust me, it won't look at all like a bee when the texture is complete

If the two rectangles are engine exhausts, I think you're also going to have a ship that's flying backwards...

Re: Show and Tell (new ships/ ships in progress)
It is purely because I am guessing that you don't use blender, when you export to .obj you choose which sides face which direction so it makes no difference which axis are which so when exported the ship won't fly backwards
