If everyone's happy about it, we can easily change 'snapshots' to 'screenshots' for linux & windows, though, thinking about it, it would probably be nicer (and consistent with the infamous AddOns directory...) if - for non-mac systems at least - it was called 'ScreenShots'!
Come to think of it, I'm not really sure why the saves directory is called oolite-saves instead of - say - OoliteSavegames / OoliteSaveGames...
There was a discussion about sanitising paths ages ago, and it was decided to postpone it till after MNSR, IIRC.
On my personal build, I use ~/Oolite, ~/Oolite/Saves, ~/Oolite/Screenshots, ~/Oolite/AddOns - no hidden directories and minimal home-directory spamming.
