Thanks, but already ahead of you. I worked for a bit on it yesterday, and I removed that metal bar as well as that switch and that stripes thing that sticks up from the main part of the HUD. I used my clone tool on GIMP to cover up those erasures along the edge of the HUD.CaptKev wrote:I don't normally do requests, but try this one.
I am just curious, do you use GIMP for making your HUD?

Not at all in vain… I’ve had several attempts at doing that, but not being adept at using GIMP, I could not get it to look right.CaptKev wrote:the hours spent slaving away with an image editor (well 5 minutes) were not in vain.
Five minutes very well spent indeed… how are the planets coming along?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

First flight in Rolling Thunder for several days (still got a buggered stick-hand). Went out empty, and in the first furball, fragged two escorts and a ‘Blackdog’ Python, which dropped a nice load of booty... this, together with the pods from the poor trader that they’d just gutted, netted me over twenty tons of free cargo. Docked, then ran an extremely lucrative cargo into a high TL system, dodging Vipers all the way, then dropped into a nearby anarchy system for some ‘relaxation’. Sure enough, I got jumped within seconds… four bandits who really meant business, so a nasty firefight ensued. I took some damage, but splashed three of them, then set about the fourth. We slugged it out for a bit, then he turned and ran… but not before he’d lobbed a clutch of three hardheads at me. Wouldn’t you know it… the cloak failed to break their lock, as it sometimes does. I somehow managed to pick off one of them, but the other two finished me. Hey-ho… and to add insult to injury, when I ‘pressed space’ I got crashed to the desktop (and was heard to utter a couple of choice expletives).

Another 'almost!'...I was in a tussle with a group of Pirates, and getting fairly beat up when I realised that I'd completely missed a Rogue Frigate, which had slowly crept up on me while I was otherwise engaged. The first I knew about it was when the screen went 'plasma-red' and everything started dying.
I was travelling at full speed and as it was really close but off to one side I spun and gave it a full blast of rear laser, then turned and hit it with the front laser as well. Luckily, by the time I rammed it ( ) it was sufficiently weak and I survived....just.
The yellow 'flag' was a hostile Asp who had previously run away earlier in the fight and returned so as I still had injectors, I just legged it.
Edit:- Moved here from 'Darwin Awards' as this is a more appropriate thread...I'd forgotten about it when I first posted.

In my trusty (and rusty) Python, I was coming home to Qutiri after my profitable trade run.
The dreaded red blip on the rader was answered by myself lighting up the injectors. So long, pirate!
But imagine the higher level of dread when the privateer also kept pace at great speed...Gah!
It was most likely an Iggy, but worse! It was an Imperial Courier.
Versus a plodding Python with no shield/energy enhancements.
AI Couriers fall into two distinct categories:
1) The rich, noobish miscreant who does not fly the beast very well.
2) The Achenarian Ace who flies like the Red Baron on a roid rage.
I'll let you guess which category this stunt-flying and sharp-shooting nutcase belonged to.
He most likely had a holy shrine to Emperor Duval on the dashboard. I was a dead man!
As is the case with afterburner-using AI, he sped away, came back shooting, and repeated.
My Python was taking a creaming, and the last attack cannot have been far away...I sighed.
I watched the Courier u-turn (I'll admit magnificently) and close in for the kill...
I determined that I would die with the finger wrapped around the laser trigger!
I aimed my nose at the Imperious dog as I fired a long stream...
Just as the Emperor's finest clipped his engine nacelle off my hull,
And exploded quite wonderfully...! I could scarce believe it...!
Still in a state of shock, I scooped his cargo and burned out of there!
I won't get that lucky again...But I do have almost 480000 creds,
and soon will be lumbering to Zaonce to buy my own Courier!

Took trunk out for a quick spin, dropped into a feudal system, and got jumped by two groups of bandits at once… that meant nine or ten, and even though I managed to splash half of them, they gave me a right slappin’… I had to hit the injectors and hyperspace out, pdq.
Is r3914 using the new js engine? If so, it ran sweet.

No, it's a feature already present in 1.74.2. Check this out.Yodeebe wrote:hey, thats cool, having the messages NOT in the middle of where you're trying to aim. is that a new feature coming up?

Make a copy of the core hud.plist (in Windows, it’s found here: ~\Oolite\oolite.app\Resources\Config), create a ‘Config’ folder in Addons, and drop the copy in there. Then paste that bit of code into the bottom of the hud.plist as per:
then tinker with the ‘x’ and ‘y’ co-ords (and the row height, if needed) until it looks right.
Don’t forget to restart holding the shift key down until the spinning Cobra appears.
Code: Select all
overall_alpha = 0.75;
reticle_target_sensitive = no;
cloak_indicator_on_status_light = yes;
message_gui =
{
width = 210;
height = 160;
x = -210;
y = -35;
row_height=12;
};
}
