The problem with PM’ing a suspected ’bot, is that a genuine new member may not be aware that they have a PM… you have to log-in to know that, and I think there are many genuine members who join, then don't log-in again for some time, if ever.
I’ve toyed with the idea of e-mailing suspects… I may start doing that, in future.

I do - and have a very full outbox - full of unread PMs. I may revisit with my new found powers...
