Broken Oxp perhaps?

Post by Namttep »

I was playing this afternoon, working as a gun for hire in G2 using Random Hits, I installed 3 more oxp's

Repair bots - accessories and Military missiles

and when I docked at a sleazy bar the Game crashes. only at a sleazy bar, docks fine at the main station.

so anyways I removed the Oxp's not knowing which one was causing the problems, or indeed if any of them where causing the problem

Because it does the exact same thing now, without the 3 new oxp's

Advice please? should I re-install random hits?

is something else broken?

do I need to re-install the whole game?

anyways grateful as always for any advice

deleted random hits, downloaded a fresh version

problem still occurs

uninstalled Oolite completely going to do a fresh install hopefully that should cure the problem HOPEFULLY. as I'm at a loss as what else to do.

fresh install of the game did not work, I can't work out why the oxp is nolonger working.

the only thing I can think of to do is restart my computer to see if that has any effect, maybe try again in the morning.

I have no idea, but I noticed:

Code: Select all

[rendering.opengl.version]: OpenGL renderer version: 1.4.0 ("1.4.0 - Build 8.14.10.2230")
Vendor: Intel
Renderer: Intel Pineview Platform
Its an older setup. I know there exists ships that can crash certain drivers when trying to display a ship. (actually I only know 2 of them until now and none is in random hits) It could be that Random Hits always starts with displaying the same ship in that system. Have you tried an other system?

And have you ran the material test suite. I think info about your card is welcome.

the thing is it ran fine until 6 oclock last night, no problems what so ever.

then suddenly booom not running, and it only crashes docking at sleazy bars, yes I've checked a few different systems.

as long as I don't try docking at bars I can dock, I can trade, I can do everything.

I don't think its a video card issue as such since it loads and plays fine as long as I don't try to dock with a sleazy bar

possible problems I saw where
file loading issues

Here

and here

Code: Select all

../AddOns/MilHUD-v3.4.oxp
../AddOns/MilHUD-v3.4.oxp/RegistrationID-Beta0.12.oxp
You appear to have installed one oxp inside another. I have no idea if this could make any difference at all, but you may want to move the RegistrationID-Beta0.12.oxp folder out of the MilHUD folder and into the AddOns folder.

Code: Select all

Random_Hits 1.4.5
[PlayerEntity.switchHudTo.failed]: HUD dictionary file milhud.plist to switch to not found or invalid.
[gnustep]: 2010-12-03 21:58:47.118 oolite[1492] Defaults path 'C:\Oolite/oolite.app/GNUstep/Defaults' did not exist - created it
The fact that "Random Hits 1.4.5" appears before the error message does not necessarily mean that the error has anything to do with Random Hits; it is merely the last script name to be displayed in the list of running world scripts.

The milhud.plist is being called by your Dragon in its shipdata.plist (I remember seeing somewhere else that you say you fly one...), but dragon.oxp does not ship with any huds. I don't know if this would confilct with the actual MilHud (are you seeing the it and all the switching effects normally?) but I would have thought that the proper MilHud oxp would take precedence over any hud specified in a plist. Whether there is any confict there I do not know. Also why if there is that it would only have an effect at a Seedy Bar I have no idea about.

I know next to nothing about GNUstep - you'll have to wait for somebody else for that one.

Code: Select all

[ai.load.failed.unknownAI]: Can't switch AI for <ShipEntity 0xa2e6178>{"Mine Sweeper Satellite"} to "minesweeperAI.plist" - could not load file.
[files.notFound]: ----- WARNING: Could not find texture file "guntex.PNG".
These are problems with the BlackMonk.oxp. The minesweeperAI.plist doesn't exist (at least in this oxp; I believe that it can be found in Assassins, which was written by the same author and so was accidentally left out?). To fix the "guntex" error, go to BlackMonks.oxp/Textures and rename the erroneously named "guntext.png" and that should (I think) solve that one. There were case-sensitivity errors with PNG and png, but as you're running Windows you should be fine.

So, not necessarily much help with regards to your original problem, but that should explain what some of those other errors in your log file are...

yep seeing all the switching effects, hud changes colours correctly I think i'm going to switch back to the other version of mihud though see if that cures atleast that problem, will maybe download the assassins oxp too to see if that has any effect,

renamed the file in black monks will trun again before I change anything else.

Thanks

Totally strange

Docked at the main station in the system with the sleazy bar Cezea in G2

then thought what the heck, it can't hurt to try, so I tried and it worked, I docked fine with the bar in the system.... don't know whether I'll have anymore problems.. but I'll certainly keep watching for them....

uninstalled milhud3.4 then re-installed it

thanks again for all the help
