I haven't, but it's better specced than anything I've got... you shouldn't have any problems playing with full shaders & quite a few oxps when the owner's asleep!
When I was a lad (and old Shep was a frog), on my thirteenth birthday (or was it my twelfth), I was overjoyed to receive a quality slipstick as a present. Wonderful little tool… ah, the memories. <wanders off, mumbling>
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

<Monty_Python_Yorkshireman_mode>Present? My god you were spoilt, I was given a brush to clean road wi' rather than 'aving t' lick it clean wi' tongue on my birthday. Slipstick! Luxury!</Monty_Python_Yorkshiremen_mode>
My 4-year-old MacBook Pro with 2 GHz Core Duo, 1.5 GB and ATI Radeon X1600 (128 MB) runs Oolite just fine. In pre-shader days the framerate was 100 practically continuously. With shaders the standard framerate is 50, except right next to heavily shaderified objects.
So I guess the girlfriend's son's new toy will be best friends with Oolite.
