MacBook Pro

Post by JazHaz »

My girlfriend's son may be getting the 13" version of the new MacBook Pro for his birthday in a couple of months (£999).

Does anyone have one of these machines? How does Oolite run on it?

The main specs of the machine are:
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor

250GB 5400-rpm hard drive

NVIDIA GeForce 320M with 256MB DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory

4GB memory

250GB 5400-rpm hard drive

13.3-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display

1280 by 800 pixels

Cheers,
Drew.
Maybe you could start a Kickstarter Campaign to found your £4500 pledge. 8)
Thanks to Gimi, I got an eBook in my inbox tonight (31st May 2014 - Release of Elite Reclamation)!

I haven't, but it's better specced than anything I've got... you shouldn't have any problems playing with full shaders & quite a few oxps when the owner's asleep! ;)
Hey, free OXPs: farsun v1.05 & tty v0.5! :0)

I'm on a 2.13GHz Macbook with 2GB of RAM and Oolite runs well with loads of OXPs and full shaders - it should go like a dream on that machine.
"Get back or I unleash my lethal spotted batoid!!"

What I do when not reading the Oolite bulletin board!

When I was a lad (and old Shep was a frog), on my thirteenth birthday (or was it my twelfth), I was overjoyed to receive a quality slipstick as a present. Wonderful little tool… ah, the memories. <wanders off, mumbling>
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

My 4-year-old MacBook Pro with 2 GHz Core Duo, 1.5 GB and ATI Radeon X1600 (128 MB) runs Oolite just fine. In pre-shader days the framerate was 100 practically continuously. With shaders the standard framerate is 50, except right next to heavily shaderified objects.

So I guess the girlfriend's son's new toy will be best friends with Oolite.
