Boa 2 Class Cruiser with Scoop View?

Post by JazHaz »

One thing that has come up during testing of the HD version (btw it seems to work fine on my underpowered PC), is that the Scoop View on my Boa 2 Class Cruiser has disappeared.

Smivs seems to think that the B2CC shouldn't be able to have fuel scoops and thus the scoop view. But I have found this page on the wiki that suggests otherwise.

Getting old so that my memory is not what it once was, so its possible I editted my shipdata to give me the ability to mount fuel scoops, but I can't remember.

Can anyone confirm whether the B2CC should come with Scoop View as standard, or whether it was a feature that was introduced with Neolite or similar?

Maybe you could start a Kickstarter Campaign to found your £4500 pledge. 8)
Thanks to Gimi, I got an eBook in my inbox tonight (31st May 2014 - Release of Elite Reclamation)!

The Boa2 Class Cruiser does not have a scoop external view.
Neither does the standard Boa nor the Boa Clipper.
The Griff Boa does, however, as does the Python Class Cruiser.

Still on course for release this coming Friday (21st May, 2010).
JazHaz has been busy, and there is now an embryonic Wiki page for the Shipset here, and the main ships have been added to the "Custom Paintjobs" section of the individual ship pages.
Thanks JH, you're a star.

I am resurrecting this thread briefly just to let you all know that I am still developing the Shipset.
Since installing version 1.74 my dear old computer can do some new tricks, namely use emission and illumination maps (although it will not be able to do shaders without a decent graphics card).
So I've just started applying some of these to elements of the Shipset. The plan is to firstly have a look at the supplement, then move onto the Shipset proper.
Needless to say this will take some time and I've set no release date or anything like that, but I will keep you posted.
As a trailer you might like a look at the new Coriolis Station:-

I'm progressing well with the overhaul of the Supplement. I've now done the Hermitage and Ico station and am working on the Dodo currently.
The main Stations are all getting a major re-work as well as the fancy lighting effects. Having spent a good few weeks living with them it became clear that there was a bit of room for improvement, and this is the ideal opportunity to tidy them up.
Below is the new Icosahedron Station:-

Following my 'Sensor/Deflector' experiment with the Adder (on the Screenshots thread - I don't know why I put it there either :? ), I've now re-done my Anaconda. I'd left the original texture in place when I re-did many of the ships for v2.0, although I wasn't really happy with it, so I decided to take the oportunity to do a whole new texture for it as well as adding the 'sensor/deflector' thing.

Don't you mean "sun roof"? :D

Nice work, I applaud you and others who put all this time and effort into expanding the Ooniverse in a non-quantum physics, but definitely more grOovy way.

Actually I wonder if it doesn't look too much like a sun bed :D

Thanks. I'm considering adding these Arrays to all the ships to re-imagine the blue area on the in-built core ships. It seems quite likely that these are not supposed to be a cockpit as such, so I wondered if they are not an Enterprise-type sensor or deflector.

Below is a close-up detail of my interpretation of this concept, as fitted to the Adder.

Honestly, as far as I'm concerned, they are windows. I don't care what anybody says, I know in my heart of hearts that's a ridiculous postulation but I'm used to cars, planes and other windowed vehicles so that is what my brain has been programmed to perceive. I really think you shouldn't get too bogged down in trying to explain what they are, as I seem to be saying a lot lately people's minds are generally pretty good at filling in the blanks with whatever feels appropriate.

Perhaps my blue lights in this thread could help?

Thanks DH.
I'm only toying with this concept at the moment and it may still not happen. Like most people I've always thought of those blue areas as windows, and I like the idea of being able to see out, but as was pointed out when I released the scale ship chart, the ships are just SOoooo enormous, any sensibly sized window would be almost too small to notice.
I suppose I'm trying to sort out a resolution to this conundrum in my own head, but doing it publicly as well.
Tonight's thought was to have a cockpit window with the sensor thingy around it almost like a frame. Perhaps I'll do one tomorrow (it's getting late now) and see if it works.
