No, it's early fifties... a clue:
A sci-fi police procedural.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I easily found the answer using TinEye, does that count?

That can't be a 1950s edition, though, surely ... it's got to be from the 1970s. It's 4-colour, for a start ... and apart from anything else there's a ribbon cable in there!

Aha! Got it. It's the "police procedural" bit that gave it away. It's
(and the first Penguin edition was from 1966, so I'm going to maintain my assumption that this one is a 1970s cover!)

That's the one. Your turn again... and I think that TinEye should be banned.

TinEye is a new one to me, I have to say ... but it would seem to make this type of question redundant. Anyway, here's an extract from the cover of a novel. Title and author, please!

Heehee, I'm pretty sure that's the kraken wakes? John Wyndham, and I did not use TinEye!

Nice cover.
I'm all out of inspiration, though....
Hm, OTOH, I just bought a series of six books, inspired by Clarke's short stories.
All book titles refer one of his stories. And the main figure is a young woman.

Too obscure?
Hint: the 'meta' title for all the books has a (real) planet's name in it.

Aha! Cracked it ... it's the
Venus Prime series, by Paul Preuss.
