I read up on that, you mean Mythbusters Episode 32: Jetpack - they did investigate a rumour that it was possible to build a jetpack with 10k$ and info from the internet - and failed.

The Martin Jet Pack people seem to stem from a little firm that (according to their website) has been working on this for three decades. I am curious what will come out of it - the steep price of about 100000$ forbids any self-experimentation, at least for my purse

saw a site about the verticopter a ways back, very feasible and seemed very innovative. the Skycar has been going for about a decade. the engines were amazing, tiny rotary things w/ the power of a Porsche

Right, the question is if it even classifies as a jet pack, no jets being involved. I found out about it just a few days ago, must say if this ever becomes a real option moneywise ... I'll try that out.

It's only problem is that it needs a 44 ton, not tonne, truck of fuel connected to alow it to fly for more than a useless purpose.
I would bet my fat belly could run farther and longer than your personnel jet.

Unless of course you have a trade name of 007 or Dr Who with a capital D.
