shaders not fully working... Drivers ?
Seems I allways run into these errors..
Shaders effects such as the Griff anacondas flashing lights
and decals, has stopped showing up on my system..
Normal mapping and diffuse mapping is working fine, as well as the light map
The decals o any of griffs ships has stopped showing up...,
I'm suspecting ATI/AMDs drivers are the culprit again (sigh)(installed a socalled hotfix, for 9.12 catalyst drivers..
But if anyone got similar problems and found a solution im all ears/eyes
The ATI drivers are still not OK, f.... crap....

Hi Frame
I had problems with the ATI 9.11 (and the 9.12) drivers.
Had to roll back to 9.10 which works perfectly so I'm staying with that for now.
See this thread.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

oh joy
When Shaders are at full, the diffuse map is turned all grey, and only the bump map and effects map is shown... No decals.--- for the old sidewinder normal mapped OXP
The new anaconda however is showing the diffuse map and normal map in full shader, but seems not the effects and Decal map..
Now however with some dated svn rev 2991 version meaning its older than the current, I cannot run in full screen... so i'm doing an svn up to 2998 to see if that changes anything after a make debug=0

svn up didnt solve the problem... I had to revert as far back as 8.43 Driver found on HIS web site to solve the problem
But got failure on catalyst control center installation... so im without direct controle, while the driver is working..
By solving I mean that the decal, effects and normal and diffuse maps are all showing up again...
Cheers Frame..
So 9.12, did'nt solve the problems either... im soo steering clear of ATI forever now.. its been 3 years, and still ATI nor HIS has come out with a working driver...

You could try the Omega drivers, works ok on my work laptop.
At home I use Catalyst 9.5 - installed CCC & stuff, but use display driver + Ati Tray Tools, works fine.

I'll vouch for the Omega drivers.Zieman wrote:You could try the Omega drivers, works ok on my work laptop.

My laptop has Radeon Xpress 1100 integrated graphics and would only run Oolite with shaders & detailed planets off. I had tried upgrading my drivers in the past but had no joy then recently discovered Diziet Sma's gem of a tutorial on modding ATI drivers for laptops and promptly installed CCC 9.5 through to 9.12 inclusive and all of them (that installed cleanly) displayed blobby square stars and messed up Neo's Wolfies OXP ships. Now running Omega driver and so far all's good, running full shaders, detailed planets and Neo's Wolfies in all their glory.

Vista AND ATI...? Whoa - a technological glutton for punishment!Frame wrote:yeah well I'm on Vista so no omega drivers for me...
Hope you find a solution - I grew to hate ATI and their useless drivers and tech support back in the days of my Rage 128 and Rage Fury Maxx days (now there was an abomination of a card and driver)
