After installing a plethora of eye-candy for the game, the explosion and fire effects seem a little out of place. They're not eyesores, but... A little bland, perhaps? See here. Highly detailed ships spewing out red-yellow orbs... Naah, me want purdy!
I tried to search for an OXP that would affect these effects, but didn't find anything...
Griff's griff_alloys_and_wreckage.oxp improves the after-effects of explosions.
Already have that... I meant the orbs that shoot out while the ship is heavily damaged. Something like this<3

I've just put up a new version of the alloys & wreckage oxp, it's a small update that just adds some new entries for the default ship-set ship names in the shipdata-overrrides.plist in the oxp, without this you don't get the extra sparks & wreckage when using the griff replacement oxp

i don't think it got past the prototype stage but it look like he put quite a bit of time into it sorting out textures and effects maps, collision boxes etc

Absolutely personal opinion here: I think that explosions the way they are portrayed in Oolite are closer to what explosions in space would look like compared to the more earthlike - although very impressive indeed - explosions of Freespace 2.

Cinematic explosions are definitely not for everyone! I've just grown with cheesy Sci-Fi...

Wooooah! Looks just great. And framerate still stands at minimum of 55fps..! Yess.

Too bad this mod never got published I used to play Freelancer a lot... Lots of fun if you can live with the controls.
