The in system jump drive doesn't work when there are other ships, stations, planets or suns in the immediate vicinity. You need to use your normal engines to move away until your scanner is empty, then the in jump will work.

Glad you enjoyed. I'll try to knock out chapter two in short order. There might be a bit of Hiatus as I'm on holiday next week though.

Drew.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread here... Might be off base here, but I always considered Elite to be newtonian, but that the engine technology employed automatically limited top speed. To give an example, normal domestic aircraft are fully newtonian, but are limited in speed by drag caused by air fr...

Status Quo, Chapter One.

Here you go then folks. The story is called 'Status Quo' (no three chord rock and roll bands I assure you) Enjoy, and let me know what you think. It's in PDF format, for ease of use across OSs. Cheers, Drew. Edit : Individual chapters no longer available, but you can download the complete version he...

New Oolite Story

Ok folks, I've started this, and by mining the Elite Wiki and some help from Selezen I've worked out the outline of my story. It links Elite and Oolite by telling the story of the invention of the Q-Bomb. I was wondering though, would folks like to wait until the entire thing is complete before I po...

Cool,

Glad the precident has been set. I'll get to work.

My original idea was to make a sort of 'link' between elite and oolite, which connects the two 'eras' in a meaningful way.

I've got some ideas forming, will keep you posted.

Cheers,

Drew.

New Novella?

Folks, I guess this is a bit OT, but has anyone considered writing a new novella to highlight Oolite? I was playing the other day thinking how good some of the oxp's are and how they would make excellent plot devices. Particularly things like the pirates cove and so on. I'm a bit of an amatuer hack ...

The first one I tried was tori.oxp. I've been travelling round the galaxy a bit and haven't seen one yet. Can somebody tell me where I might see one to verify that the oxp is working.
There is one at Onrira. It's only a few light years from Lave. Tech level 13.

Q-Bomb shouldn't destroy Behemoths?

I know this is an OXP related thing, but should the Q-Bomb really be able to destroy the Behemoths? I was mucking about killing some thargoids after a mis-jump and dropped a bomb, taking out the thargoids and was was a tiny bit embarressed to see I'd also blown up the pride of the Galcop navy... :oo...

Ships witchspacing away all the time

Arrived in Galaxy five with my super cobra. As I arrived there were four other ships nearby, which immediately witchspaced, leaving wormholes behind. Thought it was odd, but kept on flying. Then, every ship I went near triggered it's witch drive, including traders, pirates and thargoids. Flew to the...

Fantastic game

I guess you've heard it all before, but a big thanks for creating this amazing super clone of Elite. I was an avid player back in the early 80s (both on the BBC B and the Spectrum). Found the game significantly harder than I remember. I downloaded some of the more interesting OXPs (lave, imp_courier...
